Sharremish

In the shifting sands of the Parched Expanse, legends speak of a holy and righteous city, the greatest city that ever was. A pristine oasis which healed every ailment and prevented the cold touch of death and time itself at it’s center. A people immortal, unfettered by the scorching landscape around them.   The legends also speak about a mighty fall, of a curse struck, a people scattered into the desert to wander aimlessly for all eternity. Some though, were spared, and were permitted to rebuild along The River Sharo and help tend to the young river.   These people, the legend says, became the Sharokeen of Sharremish.   Sharremish is the central city of Aljann located along a bend of The River Sharo. The oldest of the Aljanni cities, Sharremish is littered with timeless ruins and tombs, most unknown.   After the conquests of the slave-holds, reactionary forces within Sharremish, emboldened by the opening of an ancient tomb detailing the history of the Sharokeen, favored removal of Bhavana Sahi from the banks of The River Sharo. The Sharokeen beleived that the slave descendants ruling Bahana Sahi were angering the god of the desert, and to prevent the curse laid in the legends from striking again the river must be cleansed. This came to action when Bhavana Sahi proclaimed independence, going to war with Sharremish and Oemm.   At the time, Sharremish was home to the King of Aljann, and power rested firmly in the city, but during the civil war Oemm, the sister city of Sharremish, stabbed them in the back and invaded. The armies of the Sharokeen were too far away to mount a defense, and the war ended with Sharremish humiliated and burned.   Today Sharremish is still scarred by their treatment during the civil war, and are rendered as powerless as possible by the current rulers in Oemm. However, as time passes, Sharremish grows in power, and rumblings of insurrection and civil war are beginning to be heard again.
