Oemm

Located nearest the source of The River Sharo, Oemm is a luscious garden city and home to the current ruler of Aljann, King Anshar.
During the disasterous Aljanni civil war, Oemm sided with the Sharokeen Faction, based in it’s close sister city of Sharremish. However, just as the Sharokeen army was sacking Bhavana Sahi, Oemm struck Sharremish and ended the war in a masterful coup de grace, establishing itself as the most powerful force in the region, and rules of Aljann.
Oemm owes it’s status to King Anshar. In his youth during the civil war, it was his daring tactics during the conquering of the slave holds and mastery of court politics which allowed him to rise from the ranks of military to governor of Oemm. It was his decision to betray the Sharakeen and seize power which brought Oemm the prosperity it revels in today.
And oh does it revel! Oemm is notorious for the carnal excesses of it’s ruling class, and the particularly squalid conditions of the local slaves. Massive works of art and archetecture spring up around the city to satisfy the fleeting whims of the nobles. Great spires and baths dot the landscape, and beautiful gardens are found on every plantation.
The floodplains near Oemm are home to some of the best plots of farmland in the world, and a wide variety of produce is exported. That, and the flourishing slave trade, brings unbelievable wealth to Oemm.
Upriver from Oemm and it’s wonderful green expanses is the Crimson Gate, a massive fortification blocking all travel to the fabled Mouth of Sharo. Here mysterious silent, masked guards halt all traffic, protecting a secretive kingdom.
