History

The title was created in 1944 by the old king of Wezonia, Dazig Notum. Originally the title was meant to unofficially restor the monarchy but the West Ilandians modified it and made it democratic.
The first Azug was the old king Dazig Notum, but he got overthrown by West Ilandian forces. Then the people of Wezonia elected Sagun Divol. This was the first democratic election in all of Azugia.
With the election of Sarus Olvin in 1956 and the abolishment of the West Ilandian influenced Free State of Wezonia democracy was lost. In the following years President (the title of Azug was abolished together with the Free State of Wezonia) Sarus Olvin of Wezonia (the successor of the Free State of Wezonia) became a dictator.
In 1965 Manic Disban overthrew Sarus Olvin and declared Wezonia a People's Republic. In 1974 the People's Republic of Wezonia deteriorated into civil war. In 1982 the Capitalist Front won the civil war and Sarus Olvin was killed and replaced by Nithon Maraj.
Wezonia never really overcame the civil war, with 30% of their infrastructure destroyed and no hope for democracy left.
