Playable Races

Animal races

All vertebrates can be created as playable races and all have at least one minor magical power. DM and player create the race together   Each race has characteristics that we associate with them. List of examples for inspiration, but not restricted to what is found here

Age

The average lifespan of the animalfolk is the double the average lifespan in captivity of the respective animal in the real world

Languages

Common is the commerce language, spoken by many. Each race has their own language, not related to the geographical location where they live. The degree of difference between two language is closely related to the degree of difference between the two races. Jaguars understand Cheetahs very well, but have almost no chance at understanding a shark. The DM might call for an intelligence check to determine how much information was understood by the character. Are races have common and their own racial language. Any extra langauges obtained through background or class can be switched to another racial language (any vetebrate animal) Each positive point in the Intelligence modifier also grants extra proficiencies, that can either be spent with languages or tools

Size

Any animal smaller than a cat in the real world becomes a small animalfolk in the Wilds. Any animal the size of a brown bear or larger becomes a large animalfolk. The rest are medium size

Demon and Celestial blood

Aasimar and tiefling can be picked as a subrace, adding some modification to it. Aasimar modifications are related to flight, wings, speed and lightning. Tiefling modifications are related to fire, fury, retribution, teleportation.   Aasimar represent descendents of the celestials and tieflings of the demons. Most noble families are birdfolk descendants of celestials. Most demon descendants come from poor families and often end up in a life of crime, as prejudice makes other options harder to reach.
