The Wilderness

Humans have learned to fear the wilderness. They build walls and towers to protect themselves from what lurks in the trees and darkness beyond their kingdoms. They tear down vast arrays of land to make room for their expanding empires, and in the process start a war with those who protect the wilds; those they fear the most.   On the other side of the world the beast races put aside their differences to gather and discuss the growing threat of the humans. Their gods will not stand for the destruction of the lands they have created, and they have called for bloodshed to keep their world from being destroyed.   Even those not directly involved in the conflicts find ways to survive. Some strive for power through magic, others through technological advancement, but most are only worried about their well-being and that of their people. Even the land itself seems to fight against those who dwell on it.   This world is fueled by power and war, and only the strongest will survive. There are no heroes and there are no villains; there are only those who fight to thrive, and those are weak and die. The strong persist, and the weak fade out. This is the way of the wild, and the only truth that everyone must remember if they wish to live to see the light of the next day.
