The Gilded Rails

The Gilded Rails is a large steam train with an ever-changing amount of cars to suit its needs the conductor is a half-orc named Drenk the train is usually still but it can go anywhere the golden tracks from where it gets its name appearing in front and disappearing behind it. The track is fueled with magic allowing it to open portals to anywhere in the multiverse. While it is a train it doubles as a tavern.   The Carts   The bar cart is right in the front of the train with a Bronze Dragonborn named Eyan running the bar he makes his signature lightning ale that costs 15 GP and makes it so that the next melee attack the drinker makes does an extra 1d10 lightning damage. In the cart, there is also a college of creation bard named Tery who sings and creates dancing automatons for the crowd. On any given day there is always a handful of different groups at the bar ranging from dwarves to drow. In the back, there are gambling tables playing poker and three-dragon ante. The bar itself is lined with walls of alcohol and trophies from the train’s adventures. In the back, there is a quest board with quests from all over the multiverse. The lodging Carts are each single rooms of various lifestyles. For carts with wealthy or higher residents, they can change to the resident’s liking. Depending on the number of guests there can be different amounts of lodging carts every time you visit.   Finally, there are five shopping carts each selling different items. The smith’s cart sells weapons and armor. The jeweler’s cart sells jewels. The bidding cart is like an auction house. Jeff’s general cart sells various supplies and the legendary cart sells magic items. Legendary Smith’s Jeff Bidding Jelwer     Travel The train can go anywhere except the astral plane. Pricing for a ticket is 5sp anywhere on the material plane, 1gp the Shadowfell or Feywild. 25sp the elemental planes, ethereal plane 15sp. Good outer plane 5gp Evil outer plane 7gp, Arcadia or Acheron 4gp, Limbo or The abyss 8gp. Negative Energy plane 15gp Positive energy plane 10gp elemental chaos 10gp. Operators Derg is the famous half-orc wizard who won the train in a game of Three Dragon Ante against Avandra herself. He constantly boasts about his gambling and arm wrestling still claiming to have never lost an arm wrestle. He wields a staff of the magi and gauntlets of ogre power. He knows the spells of an archmage. He is usually in the front of the train conducting or gambling with guests.   Eyan is a Bronze Dragonborn alchemist who brews alcohol and magic potions at the bar. He used to work at the Yawning Portal where he met Derg as he was being chased by Xanathar's guild he helped Derg fend them off and never left Gerg’s side since. Eyan knows detect magic, magic missile, plane shift, ray of enfeeblement, sleep, wall of stone, mending, Tasha’s Caustic brew, and creation. He also wears Half-Plate Armor of necrotic resistance. He is a 20th level alchemist.       Garth is the halfling bard of creation who is the head entertainer. He came from a small fishing town but he soon ventured through the multiverse and trained and for a while lived in Bytopia. One day outside of his town the Gilded Rails stopped buy and he played a song there and never left. He learned his childhood house was taken over by a banshee.   Jeff is a human who runs the general store he was a member of the Emerald enclave before his current job and has the stats of a Guard. He helped Jane on a job once and stayed at the Gilded Rails when it was time for him to leave he decided to stay. The king he once worked for has turned into a vampire and he needs help freeing his town.   Hurg is a dwarven knight (traits of a dwarf stats of a knight) who has traveled to forges in the Fountains of Creation and has learned how to forge some magic items such as plus one swords that are sold at the legendary shop but his normal creations are sold at the smith’s cart which he runs. He forged Deg’s gauntlets of ogre power and he was so impressed he offered him a job. His son Farg was taken captive and turned into a slave by duerger who live in the Hoplin Mines in the Underdark.   Jane is the human spy who runs the bidding cart. She can also offer some more shady quests to adventures. She can also brew you potions of poison for 25gp. She also has a ring of invisibility that she stole from a green dragon’s treasure hoard. She and Eyan were both part of the team of adventurers who completed Waterdeep’s famous dragon heist. She needs adventures for a heist to steal from a Cyclops with the gold totaling 900,000gp.   Crow is the elf who runs the jeweler’s cart he is a noble who buys and sells precious gems and jewelry. He helped Derg expand the train and has worked for him since. He is the owner of the Crow Fields a large chunk of land filled with farms and lakes. A group of Duegar has taken over one of his farms he needs help driving them out   Kara is the air genasi priest that runs the legendary she has a ring of three wishes with two charges remaining. She used the first charge to wish for her hometown of Valmer to be freed from its Drow oppressors. She had Hurg make her a magic chain shirt once and they have been good friends since, After that she gave him a bag of a broom of flying and he recommended she states at the Rails and she did. She offers one of her remaining wishes to anyone who takes back the Spear of Myana a +3 spear that deals an extra 3d8 radiant damage on a hit. The spear is currently in the treasure hoard of a young white dragon who lives in the frigid peaks guarded by yeti.
