The Foundation of Old Valkyrion established one of the greatest cities of all Elvenkind. The Tiae Erlaeiae, the Home of the Erlen would last a thousand years before being destroyed during the Downfall.
The first Great Era. The elves found it an easy task to tame the wilderness that the gods and dragons left them. They subdued any other people, only falling after one and a half millenia of their rule to their own hybris, succumbing to dwarven military insurrections.

Construction on the first chapel of what is now the one of the greatest academies in the known world was started by a magically gifted individual by the name of Santander. This marks the start of the academic study of magic in what is now the Nurian Empire.
The second Great Era. After the all of the elves by a series of military defeats, the superior dwarven armies could establish a short time, when their city states dominated global politics, only falling victim to internal struggle and the lack of cohesion.
A group of dwarves, exiled from their hometown of Thorshavn, landed at Trident Bay. They were the founders of the dwarven colony of Starhavn, literally meaning Strong Harbour. This developed into a mainly human settlement and the name soon became Starshaven. It therefore is one of the oldest cities in the North, and the people of Starshaven are proud of their history.
During a personal quarrel between the Dwarf Hafnir and the Elf Methild, the great city of Valkyrion was destroyed. This was one of the last remaining elven cities to exist before the mountainous barrier, beyond which they still flourished, unbothered by the conflicts between elfs and dwarves on the coast.
After settling his quarrel with the elves, the Dwarf Hafnir, son of Valin, found himself in the need of a way across the Broadpar River. Since it was his very own warband that destroyed the only bridge across just two years prior, Hafnir now started construction of his own river crossing, which quickly developed into a sprawling city, being flooded with elven refugees, above all.
Starting with the foundation of the Nurian Empire, humans all along the Western Approaches quickly organized themselves and founded villages, cities and kingdoms, quickly becoming the most dominant race in the lands.
A local lord by the name of Nûrn accomplished a task that was never achieved before in history: he managed to join several human settlements together and form a unified realm with himself at the top. This marks the start of the human history on the Western Approaches on a large scale.
The College of Santander gave up their political sovereignty in favour of a closer relation with the emerging Empire of Nûrn, what is now the Nurian Empire. This gave the Empire more legitimacy and bolstered their future expansion.
Prince Fulrad, second son of Emperor Nûrn II, sought to prove himself in his fathers eyes and further his political ambitions. Therefore he spent almost a decade waging war in the east beyond the Hurst River.
A group of a thousand brave adventurers was sent northward from Emeralcourt in order to secure the lands beyond the gap between the Nurian and White Mountains. On their journey these adventurers laid the foundations for future fortress towns liek Daynefort, Maifort and Arnfort. The group split apart after not being able to decide wether or not to return to Nuria, to follow the Arne River upstream, cross the river or head east beyond the Nameless Marsh. Multiple smaller expeditions were the result, none of which was successfull in any way.
Amand of Cloverton laid the foundation for the Imperial Fortress on the River Arne. Originally a wood and dirt hillfort, used primarily by the Expedition of the Thousand as their northernmost base, the fort soon became the linchpin in the imperial conquest of the North.
An expedition of a thousand brave men and women crossed the mighty Emmber River, starting the Nurian Period on its southern shores. The expedition is responsible for the foundation of the three great slaver cities of Perpignau, Sulfurrise and Reduik, where great amounts of slaves were and still are traded.
The Northern Wars were a sequence of wars by the Nurian Empire to subdue the remaining territories between the Arne River and the Thundering Mountains. Led by Reynauld of Perpignau, who wrote about these wars in his famous book About the Northern Wars, the Nurians would see their armies defeated for a first time by the unyielding and stubborn defence of the Northerners.
As the Galgaeans fought their war for political independence, northern, galgaean and markish intellectuals and mages under the leadership of Archmagister Lascander founded the first chapter of the Northern College for Magic and Sciences, now better known as the College of Lascander, named after its most famous founding father.
After a deadly war of independence the Galgaeans can proclaim their independence from the Nurian Empire, bringing an end to a unified human empire on the Western Approaches.
The Great Peace was made between the Galgaeans and the Nurians in the formers War for Independence. This peace would shape the realtions between the two major human states for the remainder of the millenium, only to be replaced in the eleventh century by more violent clashes along their border but also cooperation in dealing with invading tribal groups from the east.
With the Acts of Commonwealth the Northern Duchies signed their dependence on each other, practically forming the Arnish Commonwealth, which was soon turned into the Kingdom of the Arnmark. The Dukes of Arnholm, Dee, Esten, Forden, Hafn, Marsh and Norden signed the Acts in the Temple of Vildehall in Arnheim and acknowledged that their survival as an independent state depended on their collaboration.
A series of skirmishes between the newly created Galgaea and the various northern duchies beyond the Cagnan River. Significant in the formal formation of the Arnish Kingdom as a sovereign unitary entity.
During the Brothers War the elected king Arin invited galgaean forces into the country to aid them win the war. After the victory over Arnulf the Galgaeans stayed and quickly occupied the instable country to integrate it into the Kingdom of Galgaea
