The Big Bearded Bull

"While traveling through Komravu I overheard a Vampire telling her son something about... 'The Big Bearded Bull'? I got curious and asked Lord Jeremiah. He then proceeded to offer me cookies and treat me like a toddler. Pompous prick... Anyway, here's what he told me."

Summary

"Once upon a time, in an age long gone, there lived a little boy named Julias, (ha ha...) who liked to wander a lot. He wandered to Kamrovu, Hinterdale and Scalecrown. One day, Julias wandered too far into the woods and met a big bearded man with a hairy fur coat. Julias was also a curious boy, so he asked the man a lot of questions. "How did you get so big?" he asked. "I eat a lot of meat." the man answered. "What's that animal you're wearing?" "A big bear." he answered. "What is that axe for?" Julias asked. "For stealing toes..." The man answered, with a grim smirk under his hairy lips. And soon, Julias would find himself wobbling home, with missing toes. That day he learned not to ask too many questions and avoid strangers all togheter."   "Of course, that's not really how the story goes, but Jeremiah told me that the story is so old and butchered, nobody remembers the original, so they just make things up. AND I STILL HAVE ALL MY TOES, DON'T ASK."   Scholar's note- The Bearded Bull is generally told as the tale of a particularly large and vicious Human from the Age of Blood, with a penchant for collecting vampire fangs and elf ears. And if you don't behave, he'll come and steal your toes

Historical Basis

"Looking through the libraries to search for more info on The Bull, I discovered the story of a man named "Herdinger Schori", a large and fearless warrior of The Banner of Monsters. He was fearless and brutal. He wore a necklace made of fangs and bracers made of elf skin. He really hated these two species, and believed that The Banner and these "creatures" would never become friends. I can understand him, once you fight a foe long enough, once you see what they are willing to do, once you witness your own family dead at the hands of your foe, you start to demonize them.   Sadly, his story is really obscured in this library. I'll have to search for more information later down the line."

Spread

This tale seems to be spread rather far and wide, ranging from Scalecrown to Hinterdale. Though, not a lot of people seem to know the same story.

Variations & Mutation

"Looking through documents in Lavinaya, I discovered that Herdinger Schori was a famous legend around Hinterdale. He was known for his big heart and strong sense of justice. It seemed odd that the contrast between these two different tellings. I guess there will always be two different perspectives."
