Lane Bluegust II

The most famous member of the prestigious Bluegust family, in his own time he was mocked by the noble houses of Greyloam but his legacy has only elevated his family and descendants. Lane the Second was the first and only son of his parent's lucrative transport company, the Cerulean Couriers, but while he was away at boarding school his parents died from a disease they contracted from one of their ship crews. Lane let the day-to-day operation of the trading company fall to his parents' administrators and the ship captains, and he began to bleed his inheritance dry pursuing his passion for exploration. Lane commissioned the construction of one of the Bellicoast Shipyard's finest vessels and assembled a crew of the most skilled sailors he could hire before he began sailing around the world. Lane Bluegust II is known across Suurenai and the lands as a prolific traveler and anthropologist, as he heavily documented his travels and in his later years helped write and publish a series of travel guides that despite being about a decade out of date are still very popular among the common folk who don't get much chance to see the many exotic locations Lane and other explorers saw over the course of their lives. It was known that Lane was a kind nobleman, especially to the common folk, and his granddaughter who is now in charge of the Bluegust holdings carries on his benevolence. The Bluegust family has spread far since Lane's time and the Cerulean Couriers have become a more widespread organization, delivering cargo and packages across the continent. Lane has only been dead for a few years but many cities and people around the world treat the date of his birth as a minor holiday, superstitiously it is seen as a good omen to begin a long journey or expedition on Lane's birthday. Additionally, bringing a relative of the Bluegust family, and especially a direct descendant of Lane himself is a powerful source of good luck for an expedition or group of travelers. Some worshippers of Ereyda believe that Lane and his line was blessed by the Queen of Waves to always be safe at sea, claiming his great love for the water endeared him to the goddess.
