Torpedos

The longest range weapons in space combat torpedos are a mainstay of near all military vessels capable of dealing significant damage. Most torpedos are self-guided possessing a smaller less advanced Dosterich Engine that allows them to keep pace with near any ship. The torpedos are however unmanned allowing much faster acceleration than most ships and follow the direction of shipboard targeting lasers that 'paint' an enemy only switching to their own internal guidance when necessary. 
Torpedoes can also be equipped with plasma or nuclear warheads increasing their damage potential significantly. Nuclear-armed torpedos remain the most dangerous weapons in the system with their possession reserved for the Imperial Navy though rumours do suggest attempts to create them by the Datrisi Colonial Government.
