'Shouldn't mages like you be out serving the Castle Doctrine, not bothering me while I study?'

Not much is known about the private life of this enigma, every interaction with Aszerath feels like you've been talking to an entity that was born just before you met him; that the truth lies just beneath the surface that there is no past, present, or future, just existence as it is, in the current moment. Thankfully, for most mages, this feeling is a very fleeting one- as he is often just as quickly shooing them away as they are laying eyes upon him.
To many, Aszerath is incredibly aloof, seemingly shy, and not one for talking. Most consider this a sign of his arrogance and just another aspect overall unpleasant aura; a added feature of him being a seemingly endless cliche of edgy, dark, and macabre themes. To the few that have spent some time with him, or those who were a little too blunt with their observations of his physical appearance, they would know he is somewhat insecure about his own existence and that he knows more about his past than he lets on- and that maybe he really is just trying to let it all go.
He is not a particularly social being, and his current status in the world reflects that- although he is well known, he is no member of any city, village, or any formal organization. He is not a true outcast, but he does not interject himself into any social aspects of society and prefers to keep it that way, partly out of a lack of interest, and partly because he fears any attachment to the world could lead to him being dragged into yet another Divine Plan.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

He is a bit stocky for a Zurath dragon, a bit less lithe than most and stockier in build in the torso.

Body Features

He bears one set of double-layered wings; he has a set of feathers the cover the first digit of the wing hands. His tail also bears a thick keratinous shield that flakes into spines at the end. Despite the size of it, it is fairly light and thin.

Identifying Characteristics

He has a long, jagged scar that runs along the back of his neck. It curls into a peculiar swirl just before his belly scutes. No matter what form he takes, this scar seems to haunt him. Some say in a past life, it is where he was dealt a killing blow.

Physical quirks

He seems to be physically unable to sleep. It is unknown why- or how- he is able to survive without it, but he often laments about missing sleep and the dreams he used to hold.

Personal history

Not much is known about his history; not even the Great Book of All has information on his family, nor anything about his childhood- it does not even have the slightest inking on it's pages even mentioning his favorite color. Most mages and other folk assume that he has existed as he has since before The Book kept records, or maybe that he is just so mundane as to be forgotten completely from It's pages. It seems almost ironic that the one being so entirely obsessed with books would be left out the most important one.

He has no training under the castle doctrine, but is able to produce spells like he has been in tune with the magical realm for thousands of years. He is also very well educated on all sorts of the inner functions of the world, and prefers to keep himself up to date with whatever published materials he can procure.

He is a very well-skilled magical being that has the respect of most higher mages; even those who consider him a nuisance and pest to the Castle's existence find his technique and problem solving skills something to be regarded.
He has expertise in crafting his own spells to fit the situations needed, that often blur the differentiations between the standard elemental alignments.

If he has any, no one can be quite sure they exist- and he sure isn't telling anyone.

Mental Trauma

He has seen how the world treats those it deems expendable and how it treats those it considers vital components of it's plan and has become detached, fearful, and aloof towards the whole ordeal of magical destiny. This has led to him becoming an incredibly shy and reserved being who prefers the company of words and pages over the potential of being dragged into yet another fruitless game of astral chess.

Morality & Philosophy

He believes that the standard teachings of the castle- that being born as a mage is a divine blessing and it is your duty to fulfill the will of the Gods and to see their plan through; the core belief you are special and worthy of this fate and that denying it is dooming the world- is what leads to broken people, families, and eventually yet another broken universe. 
He is finds it disheartening that people spend days, hours, years, hoping for the day they can begin their magical journey. At the core of it, he feels these beliefs lead to people constantly wishing for a better world instead of embracing the one they have and trying to work on it; that escaping reality through a fate that you did not make, that you did not put any actual effort into earning, and that you do not have the choice to leave once you feel your done is no way to want to live your life.
He says that he has seen the damage that these sorts of 'magical fates' cause on those who want to be normal again, but are trapped forever in an endless cycle of serving a power they did not get to choose, and he wants to put an end to it.

Motivation

He is driven for himself and his desires at the moment- and considers that a good thing. He does not find himself beholden to a divine will, or a magical purpose, or any sort of fate but the one he chooses for himself. And right now, his goals are to collect and learn as much about the current world as he possibly can.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

He is incredibly inept at social interaction; not that he needs it, but he would rather not try to have small talk and prefers to be left alone than to try and figure out how to talk to someone about their day.

He seems to be fond of sugary sweets. And also books.
He dislikes rain greatly, as it interferes with his book collection and makes it impossible to safely retrieve them.

Contacts & Relations

Although he does not formally manage any social group, The Dark Clan, which consists of mages burned by the castle doctrine and their teachings and rules, consider him the 'mascot' of their movement due to his vocal disapproval of the castle.

Social Aptitude

Most people find him the opposite of charismatic- chafing, arrogant, annoying, and somewhat creepy. He does not mind this and is confident in himself and his way of living outside of the divine plan, although he does not have an ego and consider himself any better than a mage who believes it is their divine duty to serve- but rather considers them someone who needs help instead. 
It can be hard to almost impossible to get him to talk to you about anything, beyond him possibly asking for help with some items he may need for spell research. If he wants to end a conversation with you, he'll make it clear that you're taking up his time and he has better things to do.

Mannerisms

He's best known for his one line responses to things, such as 'Tch.', 'Stop.', 'No.', and 'Go Away'.

Hobbies & Pets

He keeps a large aviary of Orkothlian Constructs, that fetch and retrieve books for him as needed. He names them all fairly the same; and does not try to get too attached to them- they are constructs after all. He does keep a few of his more prized ones in his study room instead of in the aviary.

Wealth & Financial state

He does not seem to have much in the way of actual money; most of his books are 'acquired' rather than outright purchased. Any physical goods -besides books- are items that he has crafted himself, or others have donated to him to better allow for him further his means.
