The Marshes
In the northeastern portion of the Valley lies a large, flat swamp surrounded by hills.
Geography
During most of the year, the marshes are a twisting maze of patches of land, water, and muddy morasses willing to suck someone into the swamp. Trees are draped with moss and tall grass choke the shallow water.
There are several passages through the marsh
When mountain snow begins to melt in the spring, the water level rises considerably in the Marshes. This reveals the network of islands and canals that allows most flatboats to travel anywhere in the Marsh.
