The Unknown

This world is an unexplored land. The different races largely think themselves alone, and only a couple have interacted with anyone or anything outside their normal habitat. The few settlements of each species that exist are just the efforts of small groups of them that banded together when their Ancestors first walked this land after its Cataclysm. Only basic technologies and sciences exist in this region; tools are handcrafted and spare equipment is finite. The barter system is the only mercantile system and everything outside of the villages is a wild and untamed place of terrible beasts and strange creatures. People stay in their homes after sundown, and everyone has a job or three that they do to make sure their village survives the long winters and fierce summers.

To know this place is impossible, but to understand just what the explorers have, one must use the Atlas and Encyclopedia. There are no shortcuts in The Unknown.
