D2-L3-51

A hot planet, near the equator it's wetter as the air currents bring the moisture into the middle of the planet. The air was trapped by some low-level mountains. It makes a huge difference in the climates of the equater and the poles.

Geography

The poles are covered in desert and grassland, not much rain comes in these regions, making the area very hard for any plants to grow in. The grasslands are held together by a bunch of grass and low-level bushes. Near the equator, small trees are spread over the fields, these trees bloom in a pretty purple-blue color in the fertile season.   The deserts are often called the dusty desserts, they don't feel like they are made of sand, instead the grains are so fine that it is closer to dust than sand. Sand storms are common, even weak wind can pick up huge gusts of the dust, making it swirl in the air in giant plumes of dust.   The equator is much wetter, the rain filled forests are lush and full of unique flora and fauna. The area itself is humid, in only a way that a serious rainforest can get. The trees reach up above the clouds in some cases, but those cases are rare. Instead, the average-sized trees and bushes cover the entire area with wet, mossy trunks and leaves.

Fauna & Flora

The flora in the grasslands and deserts are highly adapted to a lack of water, Cacti are common on the border, but the dessert supports only some small bushes and cacti. The grasslands are filled with yellow-tinted grass known for being an odd mix between small cactus and grass.   The trees and plants in the rainforest are built to survive in the wet, swampy atmosphere of the rainforest. They reach high into the sky, branches of the trees spread over the sky, blocking out most light for the lower-lying plants, so those plants don't need as much light as the others. During the fertile season, most of the plants flower in some way, giving the forest it's name; No-Ka-Ua forest, or rainbow forest.

Natural Resources

Trees for rubber and wood are found in the rainforest, making the area lucrative for rubber farming and wood-cutting. There is fighting for weather the farming and cutting should be allowed in the area, fighting that has halted any actual action in stopping it. The rubber and lumber farmed from the rainforest is then shipped through the grasslands, and then to the space station that orbits in the same solar system.   The dessert has a hard stone floor that is slowly being eroded by the winds, but it's covered by the dust of the desert. It's theorized that valuable minerals could be under the dessert, but nobody wants to do the massive landscaping project that a mining operation like that would require.
