Sky Burial

In Tayvanism, to live on Oara beneath the shadow of the Tower is to endure the punishment rightly given to mortalkind by God. Though the earth may be punishment, a prison even, that does not mean people shall reside there forever. Until the Reclamation is made, the living endure but the dead are free. The body is left on an open, raised platform above the ground where it is exposed to the elements for decomposition. The individuals that have contributed greatly to society, or are rich enough, often have their bones taken to the nearest Steeple parish where their remains are kept in the skycrypts.
