Gwerin Coed - The Tree Folk

The Gwerin Coed (Called Gwerin for short) are a race of people born from the world tree (Coeden Hynaf). the first of them, grown from the seeds of the Coeden Hynaf were the first sentient trees after Coeden Hynaf, and through the ages their descendants grew to be sapient and later, evolve into a humanoid form. the race of today looks vary much like humans. They have thicker skin then most humans but it is slower to heal. Their skin tends to very in color the same as many different types of wood; tan, brown, ebony, cherry, mahogany, even pale whites and, on a very rare occasion, purple. Their hair is also varied in color from natural greens and browns to vibrant reds, oranges, pinks, and whites. Eye color is just as varied. their blood, much like tree sap, is a golden color, is much thicker than a humans, and flows slower as well, and has healing and purifying properties making it a highly sought after alchemical ingredient.   The Gwerin Coed are a longer lived race, living anywhere from 500 to 1000 years, depending on their ability to channel the world trees energies (aka Hud). most have an innate ability to feel and manipulate this energy to a limited extent where as others have a greater ability. The Gwerin Coed have special schools dedicated to learning how to better manipulate Hud, and also increase the bodies ability to store and purify it. Some Gwerin Coed, usually the ones with the greater talent, are able it absorb other energies and, after mixing them with Hud stored in their bodies and purifying them are able to use that those energies as well. These individuals are rare and are usually sent to the Verndari for further training.   Note: When Humans started to settle in Byd y Coed, and met the first of the Gwerin Coed, They mistook them for fay creatures and the land for the fey wild, and so started calling them Sióg (which means Fairy or Fay in Irish Gaelic). they Fey Wild is its own plane and is currently inaccessable from Byd y Coed. Sióg has now come to be known as a derogatory term for the Gwerin, and calling one by that name will most likely get you punched in the face by even the nicest of the Gwerin.
