Metanarrative Lead:

Three great cities are seated at the edge of the coastal region whose shores have changed much over the years. At the northern point, a large shadow looms over the surface. The City of Harmony rests upon a floating island, its lowest points brushing the clouds. On the surface, within the shadow of Harmony lie the Mucmires, remnants of a once prosperous world turned shanty towns. The towns on the surface are centered around scouting outposts established twenty years ago and around old ruins. They appear eclectic and disorganized, but they are easily defensible. On the western edge of the towns, beyond Harmony’s shadow, is a heavily guarded quarry. The tunnels below lead to Haven, the Undercity, an expansive cave system bustling with resources, industry, and the undying ambition of survival. Of the three cities, the Undercity is the most populous at about 200,000 souls, followed by the City of Harmony with a population of around 170,000. The surface towns of the Mucmires are home to a meager 30,000 people.   Long ago, several kingdoms ruled over a large continent, constructing massive cities and raising monuments to their accomplishments. Then without warning, a magical storm called the Tempest encompassed the land. The storm tore through the entirety of the continent, rendering all in its path almost uninhabitable. The land was uprooted from its core, raising islands of dirt, flora, and stone into the clouds. Few escaped its wrath by tunneling deep beneath the earth or in what few safe havens could be found on the surface. Some were lifted into the sky, along with their homes and neighbors. The storm raged for a speculated two-hundred years before receding toward the center of the continent, its destination unknown. In the twenty years since, the people of the sky city and the undercity have sent out scouting parties to chart the ruined surface and see how the storm changed the landscapes they once called home. Some people went to the surface in search of treasures from the old world, while others went in search of a new life. Small towns sprung up, with the largest developing into a small city. Though only humans populated the area originally, by the time the storm had moved on, those who chose to flee the surface were anything but. The souls that found themselves in the sky grew taller and lighter, while those who sought shelter underground grew shorter and stockier. There have been sightings of more extreme variations, but they remain unconfirmed. The three cities utilize magic in different ways to make life easier and to protect their citizens. Magic is also a tool that sufficiently trained or talented individuals are able to use in everyday life to assist with tasks.   Currently, tensions between the three cities are heightened, the race to acquire the resources coming from the surface town causing most of the tension. There is some mistrust in the citizens of Harmony on the part of the Havenites. This stems from the variety of mundane and mutant threats that they faced in their cavern home during the Tempest. Even though the storm may have stopped raging, these threats still exist. For just as the humans were altered to suit their environments, so was the wildlife.   ______________________________________________________________________________

Government

Harmony

Harmony is a city-state floating in the sky above the Mucmires with a population of around 170,000. Its government is a republic composed of officials elected by the population to represent them. These representatives decide matters related to government and city policies and pass laws accordingly. Though not explicitly a part of the government, the descendants of the former monarchy still have some sway in the politics of the city.   The island Harmony is built upon was once the top part of the mountain which was home to the former kingdom’s capital. When the Tempest threatened to engulf the old city, the monarchs of the kingdom gathered their closest advisors and scientists to their castle to try and find shelter in the storm. As the Tempest hit, a large portion of the city was pulled from the ground and thrown into the sky. It still remains there in the present day, though the reasons for this are still being studied. This event allowed much of the city to survive the storm above the clouds. Many of those in the city who were not on the section of the city sent into the sky found safety as some of the first settlers of Underhaven.   Harmony is organized around the castle at the center of the island with other districts radiating outward. The castle itself is still the ancestral home of the monarchy, though in present times it serves as an institute for studying magic. Harmony’s major industries are all based in magic, as it is difficult to harvest the resources necessary to sustain a city of its size without it. Research into magic for use in defense, agriculture, and aviation is conducted within the castle and is sponsored by the descendants of the monarchy.   Neighboring the Castle District are the newer Workshop Districts dedicated to studying the technology obtained from Underhaven, a few residential districts, and a military outpost dedicated to defending the Castle Ward. Much of the technology from Underhaven is unfamiliar to the arcanists in Harmony, and therefore serious effort is being made to understand it. The residential districts of Harmony expand outward from the castle, with some residences being built on the surface and some within the mountain itself. Though there are few threats to Harmony above the clouds, the people of the city feel a military presence is needed when defending their resources and their people. This necessitated a set of military outposts around the edges of the city and in places deemed important to protect.   Adjacent to one of the edges of Harmony is a large set of fields dedicated to growing crops and maintaining livestock. With a large population to feed and limited resources, magic was utilized to create crops which could grow and produce food quickly. Livestock animals were also infused with magic, resulting in larger animals with greater lifespans and an accelerated growth rate. These measures made it so the population could be sufficiently fed. A robust farming community has developed around these innovations as a result.   Along the southern edge of the island is Harmony’s skyport, which is used to facilitate passage to and from the surface. Travel is conducted through airships, powered in a way similar to the magic keeping the island aloft. Border officials and guards regulate passage to and from the surface, and travel into and out of Underhaven remains subject to approval.   Underneath Harmony is a series of magical devices designed to accumulate and condense moisture from the clouds below. This innovation allowed for water to be collected and stockpiled much more efficiently. Access to the Cloud Condensers is restricted to those who are given clearance, though the water itself is free for all to use. Water from the Cloud Condensers is collected and transported from the base of the island to a reservoir inside the mountain. From this location it is supplied to the populace of the city through a plumbing system.   The city’s dead are typically cremated and are returned to the sky, though occasionally they are buried within small plots in the city. Those who have committed crimes against the city are sometimes denied such a burial, and are cast off the side.

The Mucmires

The Mucmires are a series of towns on the surface within a region called the Mucmires. They have a population of roughly 30,000 and are centered around two outposts built close together on the surface. Each outpost is a base of operations for the expeditionary forces of Harmony and Underhaven. The town that grew out from these outposts is now called Waterglade. While relations between the two cities are tenuous, the soldiers and guards manning the outposts are occasionally willing to work together to achieve the common goal of defending the Mucmires. Otherwise life on the surface is difficult, as threats from monsters in the wilderness and from other groups are common.     The Mucmires are a large swampy area located within the crater where the island of Harmony once was located. Two hundred years after the Tempest began, it is now filled in with water and swamp vegetation. Due to the nature of the terrain in which the towns in the Mucmires are built, structures are often raised up on stilts in an effort to stay dry and to keep hostile animals, creatures, and people away.   One of the main pursuits of people who live in the Mucmires is scavenging and resource collection. Ruins of the old kingdom lie around the edges of the Mucmires and prove to be a valuable source of old technology and wealth. Newer resources such as plants and animals are popular targets as well.   There is no existing government within the Mucmires, though individual towns may have small militias dedicated to defending the towns themselves. The strongest military group in the region exists within the outposts, and is meant to protect the population there. There is very little infrastructure present in the Mucmires, and caravans traveling on existing paths require guards and weapons for protection. In addition, smaller towns tend to elect Sheriffs and/or deputies to investigate disputes and fend off Scroungers.

Underhaven

Underhaven is a democratic city-state led by ministers who preside over various departments within the city government. It currently has a population of around 200,000 individuals. Ministers are voted into power by the citizens of Underhaven, who have a direct vote in the actions the government takes. Ministers are usually nominated by citizens after having gained renown, usually through defense of the outer gates or through exceptional performance in their field. Ministry positions include the Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance, Minister of Industry, and Minister of Underhaven.   The city of Underhaven winds through a series of caverns, some man-made and some natural. The uppermost cavern is the Outer Gates, where the primary exit from the caverns to the surface can be found. During the years when the Tempest raged outside, hostile creatures would often attack and try to descend into the caverns, prompting the need for a defensive force to keep the people of the city safe. The members of this force are called Gate Guards, and over the years they became a general peacekeeping force within the city and around its perimeter. Guards who prove themselves are tasked with defending the Lower Gates, a series of caves below the main caverns that lead deeper into the planet. Within the last 50 years, a series of magical and technological innovations have allowed for the integration of various automatons into the Gate Guard.   Below the Outer Gates lie one of the main residential caverns, Deephome. Many of Underhaven’s citizens have homes and businesses there, though many citizens also commute to other caverns for work. Several smaller caverns connected to Deephome also serve as residences for Underhaven’s population. Adjacent to Deephome are the industrial and agriculture caverns, commonly referred to as the Works and [Placeholder], respectively. The industrial cavern is home to almost all of Underhaven’s industry and is the center of its steamworks and alchemical productions. Many of the goods and equipment used in Undercity are manufactured there.   Underhaven’s agricultural district is on the shores of a large subterranean lake. This lake is one of the main sources of Underhaven’s fresh water and it is kept fed by underwater rivers along with groundwater from the storm above. A variety of plants able to be cultivated underground are grown on the shores of the lake, and certain species of fish can be caught from the lake. The shores of the lake are also home to the capitol building of Underhaven and to several smaller farming communities. The citizens of Underhaven are able to convene in the capitol building to participate in votes and to be present during discussions held by Underhaven’s ministers.   Below Deephome lies the Cemetery Ward of Underhaven, commonly known as the Mausoleum. In this cavern, the city’s dead are laid to rest, entombed within specialized monuments within the cavern. Over the years the Mausoleum has been expanded to house more dead. The Mausoleum’s proximity to the Lower Gates has led to encounters with creatures from deeper caverns, and as a result, the cemetery ward is patrolled by members of the Gate Guard.

Economy

Before the Tempest

Before the Tempest, many kingdoms ruled over the large continent, constructing massive cities, and raising monuments to their accomplishments. These kingdoms lived in prosperity, trading amongst themselves and having access to quality goods. The Old Kingdom had a diverse economy, in which different goods were produced by various regions. Merchants developed large business organizations to carry on their activities across the land, manufacturing, selling, or trading products. Cities specialized in certain areas of trade and manufacturing. For example, some were known for their production of metal goods, while others were known for mining and still others for silk and spices. Mining was an important economic activity as several precious/semi-precious metals like silver, gold, and iron were minted into coins. Merchants had developed long-distance trade routes to bring their customers exotic goods from faraway lands. These were sanctioned as official trade channels by the participating nations. Though accustomed to farming and agriculture, commoners had access to many other goods through exchange of services, coins and trade.   When the Tempest began and ultimately lasted for two-hundred years, the kingdom was sundered, separating the people into three distinct cities with three different economies. Trade and any communication had been halted until the storm’s eventual end. Limited trade between citizens and merchants of the new cities has begun to resurface on the official trade channels, slowly reconnecting the region as it once was.

Harmony

The City of Harmony is predominantly known for its export in magic. Many of the monarchs from the Old Kingdom escaped to Harmony when the storm hit. This created a harsh divide between upper class and the common folk where the rich live lavishly while the regular civilians not so much. The average citizen uses an arcane seed as currency. This seed is a hybrid and can’t be farmed easily making it only usable as coins. Magic is used in almost every aspect of their lives, and it even plays a huge part in their agriculture and goods production. These magical goods are produced in the Academy Solaron for trade and selling.

The Mucmires

The Mucmires has become a barter economy, a semi-cashless economic system in which services and goods are traded at negotiated rates. While currency from the Old Kingdom is still in circulation and even used by some citizens, most have come to use need-based trading to live within their means. Because barter is based on reciprocity, it requires a mutual agreement between traders and with a sufficiently large system citizens can be found to supply most of each other’s needs. Bartering has enjoyed its resurgence as a means of countering economic insecurity and unemployment as the Mucmires tend to only offer temporary shelter. As the Mucmires provides a neutral zone for its citizens and outposts for both Harmony and Haven; it has no set rules when it comes to economy. People place value on what they deem crucial and those values constantly change as the people change. Salvage and study are a big part of the economy.

Underhaven

Underhaven citizens continue to rely on farming and other sub-surface agriculture. With growing populations placing increased pressure on the community and original entrances being flooded in the storm, citizens have been looking for alternative ways to grow food without compromising on quality. The city has a designated Agriculture area centered around water sources; it takes advantage of controlled environment agriculture technology using vertical farms for space efficiency. The underground vertical farms are like shafts dug downward, rather than stacked upward going hundreds of feet deep, in a grid-like arrangement to maximize and diversify produce. As a community-oriented economy Underhaven believes in bolstering food security and reducing reliance on imported goods as tensions between the nations grow. The energy source for the agriculture and living community comes from their resource processing. This is done in their Industrial and Laboratory caverns that hold large factories and workshops. Money is exchanged for goods and services as required, though the sense of community which permeates Underhaven often results in work being done out of goodwill. There is little focus on the arts at present, though there are some members of Underhaven’s community who are taking an interest in making more creative works. Underhaven also mainly exports technology.

Social Influences

Harmony

When the Tempest raised people of the Old Kingdom into the skies, their ideals of old followed along with them. Although Harmony is now governed as a republic, there still exists a harsh contrast between those in power and the common folk of the floating city. The revolutionary discovery of magic allowed for Harmony’s society to thrive, bringing them out of tragedy and into prosperity. Those who have learned the ways of magical ability tend to keep to the island, their works driving forward industry allowing them to live comfortably. Commoners can attend schools and study the ways of these magical talents in the hopes of increasing societal status. They are not considered lesser despite their lack of ability. After all, everyone’s hands are required in maintaining balance and order.   As the dark clouds began to clear away, the people of Harmony were given an opportunity to sustain the balance of their world and connect the fractured landscape once again. Trade caravans are sent en masse to the populous villages of the Mucmires, intermingling amongst the other survivors of the Tempest. Parties who have made the journey to the surface are welcomed by villagers for bringing not only resources, but new knowledge from the skies in the form of writings and news, antique arts, and magical phenomena. To the governing bodies, creating trade towns on the surface world is the first great step in restoring the kingdom of old, to re-establish villages in the name of Harmony. However, this plot is not without critics. Many leaders and traders of Underhaven find the idea to be militant, seeing as the world has changed so greatly after the storm. Tension has existed for the decades Post Tempest, with neither kingdom willing to disrupt the other. Collectively an understanding exists, if the current balance of the fractured world was to be disrupted the world would fall into chaos, bringing death to all souls of the lands above and below the surface.

The Mucmires

The expansive wastes of the Mucmires are home to people without a defining image, where groups with various mentalities perform commerce, or in some cases violence. The remains of old villages are scattered around the shadow of Harmony, some more useful to people than others. Towards the center are the trade towns, where locals are accustomed to constantly changing faces. They often work alongside caravans, merchanting wares from Harmony to Underhaven and vice versa. Hard workers are given a great deal of respect, one for aiding in the missions of survival and reconstruction, but most importantly for maintaining a neutrality within the village walls. Progress cannot be made with conflict and therefore keeping out of political or social strife allows for all individuals to succeed in this changed world. Villagers in the trade towns live to make coin and gather goods. Outwards along the edges of the Mucmires are villages in far more ruined states, places considered to be uninhabitable and unfit for commerce in their current condition. Places like these attract the more opportunistic people who live on the surface. Salvagers, the resource mercenaries, typically make their camps in the ruined villages, storing their hoards within the less devastated homes. Scroungers, bandits who make domains in the wilds, roam the trade routes in search of their next bounty with no regard for human life. Caravaners who are unfortunate enough to cross paths with them are stripped of any resources and left to die in the marshes.   Although it has been relatively quiet since the passing of the Tempest, some who live in the Mucmires have a looming fear in the back of their minds: the threat of Harmony falling from the skies. No one truly knows if the magical phenomena at work will remain stable, and this uncertainty causes these commoners to feel trapped on the surface. The world has changed a great deal and so too have the threats that exist on it. Many places once thought to have been safe from harm now stand as uncharted landscapes filled with perils yet to be discovered. Traveling west is unreliable, the forests of Everwest and Altenbrass Mountains remain impassable in their current state. In the east spans a coastline with the potential of housing innumerable dangers in the waters. Until the true hazards of these regions are understood, progress in navigating them remains slow, and ultimately the fears of the public continue to rise.

Underhaven

During the wrath of the Tempest, people fled underground driven by their aspiration to survive. To them, the storms raging above meant the only direction to head was down far below the surface. The people became united under this desire. For centuries they remained isolated, digging further, deeper, expanding their walls. From that struggle the Underhaven of the Post Tempest era was shaped. The people of Underhaven live tirelessly for hard labor and understanding. Commonfolk believe so long as one can supply food to their kin, they are an equal in the undercity. Men and women alike bring forth their knowledge to drive forward the production of food and collecting of resources. Children from Underhaven are schooled in the practices of their people, learning the ways of agriculture, and the many sciences of minerals, including how they react towards magical essence. During these years they are observed diligently by their instructors, ensuring that when the time comes students will graduate to work positions that suit them best. The deceased of Underhaven are not mourned but rather revered. Commonfolk send praise onto the dead, those who dedicated themselves to the mission of survival and bringing peace to their home underground. Mausoleums stand as memorials to commemorate those who have passed.   After many years in isolation, the people of Underhaven finally saw the Tempest recede allowing them to seek out anyone who remained on the surface. To them, the ways of the Old Kingdom were through, washed away by the storm. The City of Harmony and its people’s ideology clashes with this, giving way to a tension that has lasted since their first contact. Nevertheless, the people of Underhaven would not dare start a conflict, they understand this peaceful relationship is a necessity. The only thing that truly matters in these times is to survive. Their resources, foods, and precious technological marvels are kept heavily guarded within the tunnels. Although, leaders of trade and commerce in Underhaven do keep a close eye on the inflow of new goods, and of course coin. There do exist less populous groups who desire more to explore the surface, a far riskier option to most but still necessary.

Cultural Influences

Before the Tempest

Before the Tempest, there was no magic. Great machinations of steel and steam dominated the advancement of society. During the Tempest, it was discovered that certain substances had become charged with an unknown energy. Further study revealed that this energy could be applied in various ways to affect reality itself. This was the discovery of magic.   After the Tempest had passed, those who stayed on the surface found themselves facing not only altered terrain, but flora and fauna that had been transformed by this same magical energy. When the cities sent forth their first explorers, it became apparent that not just the animals had been touched by the Tempest. Those hailing from the City of Harmony had grown taller, thinner, and lighter and those from Underhaven had become shorter, more durable, and were able to see better in the dark. But among the few that survived exile from Harmony or Underhaven during the storm, their features were unchanged. There have been outlying mutations, such as the Ghrouls, but it is unknown just how many more exist.

General

Except for what was in the old monarchs’ castle and what is salvaged from ruins, not much remains of the arts of the old kingdom. The Tempest also caused many to pursue survival over creating great works. Currently, art is more of a hobby for those with free time. Of all the arts, music has made the best comeback with the City of Harmony, the Mucmires, and Underhaven each developing distinct styles.   While there is no true religion in the Mucmires or Underhaven, the citizens of Harmony grew more religious in the years following the arrival of the Tempest, believing that being lifted above the chaos of the surface was a blessing from the Sun God. While their religion doesn’t rule over their society, it is still present in their culture. In all three cities, however, there are a few superstitions and outlying cults. Some say that it was someone tinkering with the fundamental laws of the universe that caused the Tempest, and it wasn’t just a natural disaster. Others, though, claim that the Tempest was the work of The Darkness, a supreme deity of evil, and that The Light, a supreme deity of good, let them suffer through it to determine who was truly faithful.

Harmony

When the Tempest struck, many of the previous kingdom’s premier soldiers fled to what would become the City of Harmony along with the old monarchy. Once there, they wasted no time rebuilding their ranks and cementing their place in this strange new world. For the most part, all they had to do was maintain their presence to keep the peace. Occasionally they had to throw someone off the side of the island, but usually, the weight of their situation and the sight of the military’s various outposts was enough to keep people in line.   While many normal civilians saw them as unnecessary during the duration of the Tempest, since they’ve become aware of their neighbors below the clouds, most agree that they are key to preserving their way of life. In recent months, several units of soldiers have been dispatched to the Mucmires in order to protect the City of Harmony’s interests and further increase its presence on the surface.   The city of Harmony had always treated technology as something to be revered and preserved. In its earliest days, the only technology they had was what they brought with them during their scramble to escape the Tempest. Mechanics struggled to keep their machines running with minimal resources at their disposal. Lubricants were incredibly hard to come by, and new parts were non-existent. With the discovery of magic, workarounds were developed.   As the citizens of Harmony discovered their affinity for harnessing magic, their lack of old technology became less of a concern. Magic appeared to do what their machines had failed to, and research efforts were diverted to magical items.   Ever since the Tempest had receded, however, their curiosity in technology had slowly been reinvigorated. Seeing the ways in which Underhaven had combined magic and machine sparked renewed technological research, leading to the discovery of Steelwood, which not only allowed the Mechanics in Harmony to get their old machines up and running, but also brought about numerous lightweight, renewable contraptions that have since become a staple of Harmony’s technology.   One such contraption was the airship. While airships had been built before, they were expensive, fragile, and less reliable than traditional water vessels. With their new abundance of Steelwood, combined with their understanding of air elemental magic, the citizens of Harmony were able to create advanced airships the likes of which had never been seen. This rekindled many peoples’ love for sailing that had been forgotten when the old city’s harbors were lost to the Tempest.   The City of Harmony first discovered magic through their cloud condenser. Though the city was above the average cloud height, the condenser hung into the Tempest and would occasionally be stuck by lighting. When this occurred, any water in the condenser would be charged with magical energy. The Horizon Council ordered that this water be contained and studied for any use.   The gifted few that absorbed an abundance of magical energy were able to cast elemental magic and learned to harness their abilities in a variety of ways. Those living in the City of Harmony are very open to most new applications of magic and actively seek them out, which has led to magic being applied to almost every aspect of their life. From pots enhanced with fire magic that allow for safe, fireless cooking to soil irrigated with the magically charged water that speeds up the growth of crops, and heavy objects that can be made lighter with an air elemental charm, there seems to be no limit for the uses of natural magic.   Most of the magical goods in the City of Harmony are produced in the Academy Solaron, a university based in the old monarch’s castle that focuses on studying the arcane. The most skilled users of magic are tasked with creating these magical goods, only with approval. Some are exported to the surface and Underhaven, but many stay in the City of Harmony.

The Mucmires

The Mucmires have little to no military to speak of. Due to the scattered nature of the settlements and inherent lack of government, most inhabitants of the Mires are left to fend for themselves. For most of its history, the main settlement of the Mires has relied on elected peacekeepers and their deputies for some level of protection. Since the events of the Darkwyrm attack, there has been a push by its citizens to increase its defenses. This has manifested in several ways. With all the new money now flowing into the Mires, a group of salvagers pooled their resources and paid for a wooden barricade to be built around the Settlement’s perimeter. In addition to this, Both the City of Harmony and Underhaven have built permanent outposts for their respective militaries within the settlement’s walls.   Technology plays a mixed role in the lives of those living in the Mires. Pieces of working technology are highly sought after, whether they are left over from the old kingdom or imported from the City of Harmony or Underhaven. However, most of the technology in the Mucmires doesn’t function properly for one reason or another. Either it was scrap when it was found, or it has broken down from exposure to the marsh environment.   Scavenging old technology from the ruins is one of the Mires' most dangerous and profitable professions. While most of the ruins within and near the Mires are picked clean, several of the more unstable locations are still relatively unexplored and more ruins are being discovered every month.   Magic in the Mucmires was discovered through both magically charged stormwater and the remains of mutated wildlife harvested for food. While most avoided the latter method of acquiring arcane components, a few salvagers became dedicated mutant hunters. Other scholars found that certain ingredients could be added to the charged water to give it different properties altogether.   When trade was established with the City of Harmony and Underhaven, the Mucmires were introduced to even more forms of magic, allowing those with the right resources to take their pick of which method they wished to pursue. Due to the high cost of the necessary materials, most don’t bother studying magic and are fine with settling for its products.

Underhaven

From cataclysmic events like the Darkwyrm attack to more persistent threats like Ghrouls, Underhaven has had a harder time defending itself from the effects of the storm. As such, they have developed a robust military that utilizes both volunteer soldiers and their advanced technology to repel threats from their cavern home. As per their democratic government, citizens of Underhaven are not required to serve in the military, but it is considered a great honor to put aside one’s life to defend the lives of others.   Units are most commonly stationed at the outer reaches of Underhaven, with a heavy presence at the main entrances. To help combat threats that might be too large for the average soldier, for every thirty members a unit has, it is issued an armored defense automaton. Over time units and the communities that they serve tend to become attached to their automatons, oftentimes giving them names and adding personal touches to their exteriors.   With massive reserves of metal and fuel at their disposal, the industrial citizens of Underhaven turned their cavern home into a mechanical paradise. Massive workshops dominate whole caverns, and the sound of pistons firing and cogs turning can be heard across the breadth of the city’s many caverns. Though some of these technologies are exported, it is mostly the products of their industry that make it to the surface. Materials such as glass, refined metals, coal, and precious stones are common wares available from Havener merchants.   Underhaven first found magic through a cavern full of charged crystals. These crystals could be ground into a fine powder and used as a type of rune ink for imbuing objects. Underhaven magic was developed to supplement technology rather than replace it. This has led to the creation of powerful items like soul stones and some less-than-powerful items like Abbadon’s stealth boulder. Citizens of Underhaven are generally accepting of what they believe to be their form of magic but view other forms with suspicion. However, similar to Harmony, a few citizens of Underhaven started researching the uses of different types of magic after the storm receded and tried to harness magic the way Harmony has. This research is typically conducted in secret, from fear of the scrutiny from the community at large.
