The Scrimshaw Palaces
Deep in the darkest depths of earths oceans, there lay the pale ivory castles of the Cipactli, carved from the bones or their collective ancestor.
Purpose / Function
The Scrimshaw Castles were never intended to be used as such, but the Cipactli Nobility claimed them as their own as soon as the first individuals started to distinguish themselves from their weaker siblings.
Alterations
The interior is still largely the same as it was when they were first carved, a chaotic mess of hallways and rooms, nooks and crannies. The flesh of the great worm has been largely devoured, with only a few small bits and pieces being left clinging to the bones.
Strange and nonsensical pieces have been carved from smaller chips, and now serve as decoration for the Cipactlian Nobility.
History
After the great worm Quetzalcoatl failed to eat the sun, its body crashed back down to earth, creating the Cipactli.
The entirety of the original skeleton extends to the length of a mountain range, however large parts of it have been covered by continental plates, leaving only a few vertabrae uncovered.
Their layout is as winding and confusing as a maggots way through an apple, as the individual rooms and twisting corridors were dug by the lowliest members of their species, in a futile attempt to accrue chaotic matter from the calcified tissue.
