Session 024: Preparing to Jailbreak

General Summary

-General Summary-   H1   After dropping the refugees off via ship at [Nork], a few of the militia members they'd managed to train join them, as well as [person who joined the crew]. With the labor camps landlocked, the party is forced to make their way there on foot, or at least by land in general. Cyrus wonders aloud if they have access to any type of carriage of any kind, of which they still have the circus carriage in the hold of the ship, designed, like all of their recent ones, to be drawn by bear. Deciding that being conspicuous might be their best bet, they go with this option for their rescue attempt. With Slab unable to be much help on the ship, he rejoins the party, but Vex opts to stay behind in his place. The travel is slow-going, as there is a need to avoid towns and cities, due to the inherent racism of the country. Eventually, they come upon a series of valleys with the forge city housing the labor camp in question, Ordhull, visible from above. The area is marred by mining and production, surrounded by ravines with a dam fitted nearby and allowing for a river to flow through, though the likelihood of poisoning from the surrounding area is high. Emyr observes that the city planning was atrocious, and that any consumables for the city would likely have to be outsourced and brought in from elsewhere.    H2   With the best interest of the party being to scout before attempting their rescue, the stay back and observe. Watching as the city goes about its daily routine, seeming in and of itself to be its own machine, with shipments coming in and out periodically, including raw materials to travel from the labor camps to the city proper. All in all, it seems that the dam might also server as one part refinery. Since the city is clearly rapidly going through an industrial state, the party surmises that they likely employ child labor, allowing the party to potentially bribe "little grubby hands" if needed. Through a combination of a hat, Minor Illusion, Chompsky's shrinking necklace, and a significant amount of bandages, the party does what they can to disguise themselves, with their most difficult scout to conceal, Lavug, been left dressed as a burn victim. Not wishing to lose either the bear or the mouse, Emyr rides Chompsky while the shrunken Cyrus rides Ourse. The party decides on a series of questions of which to find the answers to for this scouting endeavor: what the town is mining; who's in charge; what are the shifts and rotations; are there any tunnels out; what is Alize's actual location, and where the prisoners are actually being kept; and are there any potentials for riots or uprisings, and if so, what are they?
