Mercy's Grapevine

According to legends, there is a valley somewhere in the Red Mountains placed by the Mother of Mercies herself. This verdant garden is home to all manner of mystical plants and animals, not the least of which is Mercy's Grapevine. The berries it sprouts are said to be able to cure any disease and even grant restored youth to those who partake. However, not everything that lives in the garden is so benevolent. The grove is guarded by a massive serpentine beast appointed by the Dragons to protect the vale from outsiders.
According to one myth, part of Saint Jeriel's trials to prove himself to the dragons involved finding the valley and sneaking past the guardian to obtain three berries from the grove. To achieve this, he used a harp borrowed from Saint Cyrus to lure the great beast to sleep and simply walked past him into the grove. He plucked five berries from the vine, placing three in one pocket and two in another, and returned to the Dragons to report his success. The three berries he gave to them as proof, while the other two he kept secret.
When the Dragons discovered this, they did not chastise him, but instead congratulated him on his cleverness and generosity. For instead of keeping the berries for himself, he had given them as a gift to his daughter. No two stories agree on what she did with them; some claim that she used them to brew an elixir so potent that it could restore life to those long dead, while others suggest that she passed them on to her daughter when she passed away, and that the family still holds on to them in secret, passing them down from mother to daughter to this day.
