Pritvy Standard [Language]

Pritvy Standard, commonly referred to as "Standard," is a language spoken by most people in many regions of the world. Before the apocalypse, nearly everyone on the planet spoke Galactic Standard, the language developed millennia ago as a common means of communication among all the species in the galactic community. Since then, the language has changed substantially, and it is only now beginning to spread again. Standard has several words for everything, with different sounds, to enable species with various vocal ranges and capabilities to communicate.

Geographical Distribution

Pritvy Standard is spoken by civilizations of all manner of species across the planet. Many communities do not speak it, but more do than do not. Communities isolated by natural features are less likely to speak it, as are xenophobes. It is less common on the southern islands than on the major continents.

Vocabulary

Galactic Standard, and therefore Pritvy Standard, uses words drawn from hundreds of languages spoken by dozens or even hundreds of species, making it very difficult to master when compared to other languages. It is designed to be as simple as possible while maintaining sufficient vocabulary for nearly all the species on Pritvy to be able to pronounce enough to communicate effectively.
