Mourner Myths

The Mourners are an actual organization across Pritvy. They are widely feared, but few people actually know much about them, which has led to rumors and myths being more common than facts. Some parents tell children stories about Mourners to frighten them, and when those children grow up, they sometimes tell their own children Mourner stories. Almost all tales about Mourners portray them as the villains, but in a rare few (mostly Human) communities, they tell quite different stories.

Historical Basis

The Mourners are a secretive, militant group spread across Pritvy. The group has existed for a long time, dating back to before the apocalypse. The descendants of the original members are enhanced with cybernetics, and often use combat stims. They are fanatical xenophobes, and are heavily armed. Some parts of Pritvy have a heavy Mourner presence. In these regions, Mourners often attack and kill aliens and other non-humans openly on the roads or even in towns. Some Mourners are overt and bold enough to conduct "inspections" on towns and villages looking for non-humans, but they tend much more towards discretion. Many other regions and cities have small Mourner cells within them of which the population is unaware. The goals of the individual cells varies greatly.
