Cardlings
Show me ya' cards!
"Cardlings" is a magical card game created post-apocalypse but based on a magical card game from ancient times.
Each card represents a different magical creature. The magical aspect of the cards is that the creatures can be summoned into reality to defend the card-holder. This ability can only be activated by children or those who the Cardlings determine is "pure of heart."

History
Cardlings were developed by a magic user in the ancient times. A wizard of the post-apocalypse found a set of these ancient cards and began production themselves.
Cardlings can be used to summon the creature on the card into reality. The wizard who began making these for post-apocalyptic citizens did so with the intent of helping people protect themselves. Summoned Cardling creatures will fight to the "death" to protect their wielders. Upon such a "death" the creature's spirit returns to the card and can be summoned again after a small amount of time recharging its energy.
Over the last century, Cardlings have grown in popularity. While the original cards are magical, non-magical Cardlings have also been made; these are not intended to fool people, just allow for a larger audience to play the game.

Execution
The game is played much like contemporary collectible card games. Cards have numerical stats and written abilities. Magical Cardlings are fairly rare, so the game was designed to use decks that have only 10 cards in them. However, over time and with growing popularity, many "knock-off" Cardling cards have been produced by a variety of people.
With more and more Cardling cards existing, new rules have been created. Some players now use decks of 30 cards, for example.

Components and tools
Cardlings are small metal cards with images of creatures printed upon them. A single Cardling can be summoned, it does not need to be part of a deck.
A standard deck of Cardlings, which is required to play the game, consists of 10 cards.

Participants
Generally, Cardlings is played competitively between two people. Other rules can be used to increase the amount of players: team fights and free-for-all rules are common across the wasteland.
Observance
Cardling tournaments are held frequently across the land. However, the largest tournament is held annually within Torch Town. Not only do players travel from far and wide, but many people come just to watch the games. The tournament has spawned a full-on town celebration complete with market stalls and food vendors.
