Imposters

This file deals with Imposters, a semi-rare creature that most will never see.    If you happen upon an Imposter, it is imperative you kill it. Barring that, imprison it for further experimentation.   Do. Not. Interact.

Basic Information

Anatomy

No one knows what an Imposter looks like, but from what we can gather from vids and photos, they mostly appear as tentacled beings with a jelly-like flesh to them. They are able to morph into any sentient being they come across, even animals.

Genetics and Reproduction

Only a tenth of Imposters are tasked with reproduction. As such, the species is dying out. They find their way onto a sparsely populated ship and take it over, using the crew in order to repopulate as much as possible. This eventually leads the crew to dying as they are either eaten by their progeny or the Imposter has kept them away from anywhere that could give them supplies, causing them to starve out.

Growth Rate & Stages

An Imposter starts off as a small jelly creature. They are unable to morph until two weeks in, according to our data. At that point, they take the form of a small infant, appealing to the softer side of their human counterparts.  Now, here's where things get messy. We've seen Imposters go from infanthood to adult within a month, taking over and devouring the crew in moments. We've also seen them stay as infants for months upon months, only to fast forward to adulthood once the ship comes into contact with another. They then use the second ship as their own. It has been rumored of an Imposter who went through the human cycle of life stages, but these rumors are unfounded.

Ecology and Habitats

There's no proof of where these came from, just that they are able to live within space and within an oxygen-saturated enfironment.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Meat. Lots and lots of meat. We have not seen them eat anything else. It must be fresh too. Cooked meat causes them to vomit or even start to die. However, eating fruits or vegetables seems not to cause that, but it does not appear to fuel them either. Only fresh meat can give them what they need.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Imposters tend to be brilliant. The only ones who have questionable intelligence are those who proclaim themselves to be Defenders. They tend towards physical violence and brawn, but seem confused when faced with any type of scientific experiments.

Civilization and Culture

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

We have been notified that the special portion of the Imposters are the ones who integrate within humans. They use them for their own advantage, they do not fall in love nor do they care for the humans they come in contact with.
