The Split Continent

Created by

The Continent of Partition was once a whole place, ruled over by the immensely powerful Kingdom of Ry'Ok, settling and spreading westward, civilizing and bringing the world into a state of prosperity as none had ever seen. Then, when opulence was at it's highest, disaster struck. Seemingly overnight, the continent was split in two, the half of the world that contained the capital city and the majority of Ry'Ok's military might was torn away from the rest of the land. Now, with the governing body gone, the remaining lands and lesser monarchs attempted to keep the name of Ry'Ok alive, but infighting and turmoil eventually spread until they split into four smaller kingdoms, the Holy Land of Quovas, the dense forests of Reickin, the vast rolling deserts of Crykartha, and the dark, corrupt marshes of Emesis.   Quovas was the religious capital of Ry'Ok, spreading the gospel of the Beatricic Order, a sect devoted to the worship of Angels. Although they revoked their previous rulers, they have remained steadfast in their beliefs, erecting their iconic winged statues and elaborate cathedrals throughout the country.   Reickin lays to the East of Quovas, a country made up of one massive forest, the thick trunks of the atavistic woods reaching high into the sky, branches scraping the heavens and shrouding the primordial magics that lie within. The secretive nature of the region has led to it becoming a safe haven for bandits, murderers, and others with much to hide.   To the South lays the Kitin mountain range, extending into the vast desert of Crykartha. It is a vast and barren place, populated by the insect-like Huskal, predatory sandweavers that scavenge across the few human settlements like locusts. The shifting dunes are spotted with burial mounds of a long-dead race, extending into catacombs miles down into the earth.
