Karas Yoloth Tyr

The traitorous brother of Maruanne Yoloth-Tyr, ruler of the city of the same name. Karas thought the Drow never should have left Barrule, but went because, in the heat of the moment, he had no choice. He immediately regretted the move, and has spent the majority of his life yearning to return to his home island, but knowing Queen Eudora would have him killed on sight for betraying her in the first place. Soon after landing on Stetbalt, Karas began his plan to kill his sister, and restore the worship of Vahlen in Stetbalt. Maybe then he could redeem himself in Queen Eudora's eyes. His assassination attempt failed, however, and he was banished to the caverns beneath Yoloth-Tyr. Decades later, after years in the dark, he developed a fascination with spiders, and their simple, efficiency. This far below ground, they are formidable killing machines. He developed and unleashed a plague on the city above, turning many of the Drow into half-spider abominations, that were then sent below. They joined him, and, gradually, he perfected the formula. The height of his experimentation and efforts created Driders. As he developed his own small kingdom of sorts, he began to attract the attention of other underdark denizens, one of which was Serissa, the medusa. Serissa challenged Karas and his minions, and a battle ensued. Karas and the Driders slaughtered Serissa and her Kuo-Toa, but Karas was impressed with her power. Serissa respected his strength also, and a strange, twisted romance formed between the two. She now protects him with her life.
