During his numerous visits to the Great Mother's Garden, Lathander appeared as a giant of a man, to match the size of his lover, Chauntea. His visage radiated the bright shine of the morning sun and his hair burned with flaming orange-red fire. Lathander manifested as a handsome young, slender, muscled human man. His favored attire consisted of colorful robes in shades of red, pink, and yellow. A red and golden sash encircled his waist, complementing the god's appearance. Golden sandals adorned his feet, leaving scorch marks wherever he stepped. Lathander often floated and delighted in materializing amidst glorious dawn sun beams. When angered or upset, his radiant face could darken akin to a sun eclipse.[26]Personality
Despite being among the oldest of Faerun's gods, Lathander retained the cheery hopefulness of youth. His eternal optimism was a constant source of inspiration, focusing on future aspirations rather than dwelling on present failures. He embodied a dogged determination that encouraged proactive altruism and the reevaluation of traditional ways. Lathander's exuberance and friendliness were evident in his keen interest in vibrant life, encompassing both birth and nature. Conversely, he vehemently advocated for the eradication of the corrupt mockeries of life, such as the undead.[13] While Lathander was admired for his positive qualities, he was not without the flaws common to the young. Zealotry, vanity, and excess were traits attributed to him. Critics pointed out that his aggressive do-gooder mentality sometimes hindered sensible decision-making.
