Buachalla

In the state of Falias of the country Sídhe, there lies the simple town of Buachalla. A simple town built upon a meadow, Buachalla is a quiet rural place of simple people. Buachalla is an extension of the capital city of Saol, and exists almost as a suburb of that city. Many Buachallans commute to Saol along one of the three rivers that connect the two; however, many inhabitants of Buachalla prefer to spend their entire life in the town working in either the iron mine, the mills, as smiths and metallurgists, or as simple cow farmers. Most of the inhabitants are of Fir Bolg and Fomorian lineage. Those few who usually leave the comfort Buachalla join the Sídhe Navy to see the world and to hopefully learn alchemy.

Geography

Buachalla is known for its three silvery rivers which all split from the Ernmas River, which originates from the Oilliphéist Sea surrounding Saol. These three rivers are named Ériu, Banba, and Fódla. Ériu is the longest of the three and leads to the iron mines in the north (it is also rare, but not unheard of, to find small deposits of gold among the iron). Fódla is the shortest and flows only to the large meadow where most of the people of Buachalla live and where their cattle are raised in the south. Banba flows through the mills where iron is forged into damascus steel for Sídhe Navy vessels and weapons utilizing the palladium from the river along with carbon. Underneath the sod and soil of the earth that lies by these rivers are large deposits of a special type of clay that is infused with the palladium of the rivers. Running opposite of these three rivers are three rivers of water with Macha to the north, Nemain to the south, and Badb in between. The purple crows are notorious for bathing in these rivers, while the finches have been known to bathe in the palladium rivers. The water rivers are sources from the Bríg Sea, an artificial freshwater sea that permeates throughout the Sídhe nation.

Fauna & Flora

Along the roof of the underground dwelling lies golden biofluorescent beech trees which produce light during the artificial daylight hours, providing light for the photosynthetic foliage which lay on the floor. These trees also provide homes for the native deep purple colored ravens, silver finches, and crimson mockingbirds whom make their nests in these upside-down outgrowths. These birds are considered somewhat sacred, especially the mockingbirds, who are the only of the three native birds for whom the naturally lukewarm jade fruit of the beech trees are not poisonous. At night, golden white lightning bugs descend from these trees to avoid falling victim as prey of the birds, their movements like dancing stars above the heads of the common folk. They provide peculiar ambient light to cut through the pure darkness of underground living. Cows exist as the primary livestock and are shepherded by large domesticated canines nicknamed "dire dogs" who normally have pure white coats with characteristic streaks of grey. Black cats with white tufts of fur adorning their chest, faces, ears, paws, and tails are common house pets used to ward off pests and rodents.
