The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is an artificial paradise founded by humans in the 22nd century. It was created by humans who opposed the rule as a safe-haven from the angels who had come to Earth to cull and regulate the human population while reversing our technological advancements to preserve the planet. These beings had been sent as guardians, but the temptation of ruling the planet and proving themselves as the superior one was too strong, and they descended into a brutal war, killing the vast majority of life on Earth. The angels and remaining humans split into multiple factions, and as Earth was destroyed, the survivors escaped to The Sanctuary. With the angels distracted by an ongoing war, the humans were safe for now.   Tensions were still high from the war, and the factions began to form regions based on races and ideals. The first people to The Sanctuary had brought technology and wildlife from Earth and one large, beautiful city was born. This city was named Safe Haven. Rich and influential people from Earth became the leaders and ordered for the city in an impenetrable dome. The people who belonged to other factions during the war were exiled to the wild land of The Sanctuary. During the following decades, these people became more primitive and while they lived in different parts of the land, they all shared a common hatred for the people of the city.   Over the following centuries, The Sanctuary became completely different to Earth, not just in the fact that the flora and fauna had evolved to be completely different, but that there was an enormous difference in the people. In Safe Haven, most people lived affluent lives in an advanced environment, alongside AI and humanoid robots, while in in the land surrounding, the people had evolved backwards with a lack of resources. With a new, brutal regime gaining control of Safe Haven, and many citizens supporting them, it was only a matter of time before The Sanctuary descended into chaos.
