Jeti

Jeti is one of the richest islands in the Outer Lands, and often thought of as being more civilized, due to it being one of the only islands in the Outer Lands with a consistently large congregation presence. It is, as far as practicalities go, an example that the congregation officials like to point to in order to indicate that the Outer Lands are being looked after, loom at this one here for example.

Geography

Jeti is a medium sized island, with most of its natural geography being rocky and difficult to live on. About half of it is taken up by the city of Jeti, which is built upon and around the rocks. The rest is where the island's quarrying operations take place, though there are sometimes dangerous creatures found living under the earth.

Natural Resources

The stone that comes from Jeti is largely sandstone and limestone, which is especially useful for building. Once it is mined by quarrying, it is sent to the rest of the archipelago on congregation ships, and it widely used in construction as a result.

There are also several pockets of granite, though these have been mostly mined out years ago.

History

Jeti was first colonised in the year 32TC, having been ignored up until then due to the difficult conditions there. It was colonised at the time as a waypoint between different locations, as a place to stop and buy supplies. Over the next few centuries it began to grow into a decently sized village of traders and merchants, until in 497TC a visiting dwarf noticed the richness of the stone on the island. This led to the quarrying operation, which resulted to the island becoming nearly half of its original size over the next thousand or so years as much of the stone was taken away in order to build on other islands. To this day dwarves make up the largest demographic of residents in Jeti.

In the year 1356, the elf named Kandar  became the leader of the island. By now, there was a rather large town on the island, though there was no representation in the The Congregation due to distance. It was acknowledged by the congregation, as it was one of the best sources of stone, but no-one had ever been offered a seat. Kandar felt that this should change, and so campaigned to have Jeti be formerly recognised as a member of the congregation, which he succeeded in two years later and became the first Arbiter of Jeti, a position that he has held ever since.

In 1534TC, Jeti formerly opened its first Church to the Old Gods, which allowed it to be formerly recognised as a city by the congregation.
