817 This Adage, originating from the early days of the Post-Leviathan Era is usually seen as a very well rounded
representation of the empire and its goals. Spanning across 7000 lightyears and containing over 4,000,000 stars, its current
territory is the largest human occupation anywhere in the galaxy and has all the facets to show for it. Also being the most
highly (and densely) populated human galactic nation, Over 2 quadrillion souls inhabit The Royal Empire, and for the most
part, each works towards the betterment of their nation and themselves. Each and every life lives under the sturdy rule of the
fire titan Vulkan, a huge silicate organism originating from earth due to the meddling's of an ancient cult. The history
of the Empire and its people stretches back thousands of years and its borders contain a large variety of different cultures
which evolved from the large diversity of the imperial population during its time on Terra.

HISTORY

It's well known, especially to the Emperor Vulkan, how old the Empire itself is. Though over these years, much of the information about the infancy of the empire has been buried by much newer records and has been ever harder to retrieve, The Emperor still insists everything be recorded and stored in immaculate detail for the purpose of future generations to be able to look back, even if some of this information has been quietly snipped out and tucked away to prevent disturbing the public.
The story of the Empire starts not with Vulkan, but with His Creators, a cult which was initiated to investigate a phenomena discovered in eastern Europe by their leader in the 1300's. This person, whoever they were, fell into fanaticism along with his peers and led them to start a ritual which they expected to use in order to pull a demon from Mt. Etna. The ritual, however, had apparently failed, and the resulting loss of faith and infighting soon dissolved the cult into obscurity.
More than 200 years later, it would turn out, that about the ritual, this was not the case at all. Having spent these years since his inception developing and realising himself within the mantle, Vulkan discovered the crust of the earth and, determined to see what was beyond it, struck and dug against it with the might of a mountain.
Due to sheer coincidence, this day happened to be a gathering for Emperor Theodore and the majority of his consort in the Kremlin. Thus, merely a year before his death by scurvy, he was instead killed by the sudden eruption of an enormous volcano engulfing central Moscow. The resulting collapse of the Romanov house in such an unstable period very quickly transforms Russia into a huge battleground of warring, squabbling micro-nations fighting both eachother and foreign invaders.
Desperate for resources, loyalists still aligned and dedicated to restoring house Romanov return to Moscow, which has long since been fled from and abandoned. What they instead find is shelter in the form of a glistening, almost perfectly smooth cave, and a fire titan which they initially label as a demon.
After some translation issues and some demonstration, this title quickly switches to god, and after learning quite a lot in a short span of time, Vulkan begins thinking about redeeming the mess he's made.
Things begin happening very quickly at this point, Using and training his co-ordination, Vulkan begins to rebuild Moscow into his own image, manipulating the mantle below to make sure the lands stay warm and fertile, with the volcano being a seemingly endless well of resources. This of course attracts people from across the Empire and over the course of a few decades, Moscow is slowly rebuilt towards and past its previous glory.
Vulkan is kept secret from the public by his own request, so to carry out his will, he appoints a 'dictator' to publicly represent the government and provide feedback. Soon after, Vulkan begins defence against attacks and begins a rather merciless conquest of the Russian continent, eventually uniting all the houses under one banner and using the Siberian mountain ranges to spout more volcanoes. These actions make populations see the continent as a holy land, with these volcanoes being fountains of life, fertility and wealth.
From this point on, The Empire is often thought to have been properly formed under the Russian moniker "stal'naya imperiya" (Steel Empire) which is regarded as the original name for the nation. Centuries pass with only minor border disputes with China and the west. Several wars would pass, one with china during WW1, sparked by revenge, would lead to a bloody massacre, the near destruction of China, and the Emperor's realisation of the bloodiness of conflict.
Up until the modern Era, the Empire would stay a neutral party, gaining riches by selling weapons and materials found nowhere else on Earth. This wealth and prosperity led to overpopulation and mass industry, forming cities into great spires and turning the skies within the Empire a dark brown. Slowly, too, would the culture of the Russian houses fade away as people from across the corners of the world seeked opportunity and safety within the cheap, safe housings of the Empire.
The space age would come much earlier than anticipated due to rapid, concentrated scientific development funded under Vulkans own order. He grew concerned that something distant, something he couldn't quite comprehend, was drawing closer, and he intended to plan for it in every aspect. The rest of the Era would be spent gathering strength and material from the Sol system and the Asteroid Belts as Vulkan watched human civilisation slowly disassemble itself. The thing that was approaching was affecting the entire human noosphere, making people angrier and less rational, it was too late to figure out what to do about it now, so he just went with his original plan: Escape.
Using gathered resources, he had converted several of his largest cities to be able to lift from the planet's surface and into high earth orbit. From this orbit, in the year 2068, the largest shard of remaining humanity watched as their planet's surface was lit up in nuclear fire just as Vulkan revealed his existence to the populus, they would see him in a much better light than he anticipated, the majority wanting him to lead them and give them their second chance, even if it meant sleeping for the next 2000 years in deep stasis, which was the announced plan.
Instead, due to the sudden discovery of SpARK technology by a team of scientists known as the sleepwatchers, the journey only took 106 years, which Elated the Emperor. However, due to under-estimations of the technology, they happened to end up far,far past their intended system in another that which happened to be quite a lot better for colonisation as it turned out.
From that point on it would be thousands of years of development, wars, encounters and expansion, all of which i dare not detail here alone, go look at the timeline for such things (currently under construction).
