Vaelin Morien
Vaelin Morien
Vaelin Morien is the only Blueseer of his generation, a gifted Chronomancer capable of foreseeing the fates of others with startling accuracy. Born to a humble family in the coastal town of Stillpoint, Vaelin’s life changed dramatically when his visions began at the age of 13. Though marked by great power, his path has been defined by both tragedy and confinement. Forced into a life of servitude within the "Tower of Moments" (formerly known as the Seer's Tower), Vaelin struggles between his desire for freedom and the burden of his unique abilities. Over the years, his eccentricities have grown alongside his loneliness, leaving him haunted by the futures he has witnessed. His only tether to the present is his niece, Nalya, whose fragmented fate both intrigues and terrifies him.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Years of confinement have left Vaelin with a wiry, undernourished frame. Though not physically weak, he lacks the endurance and vitality of his youth. His energy is sporadic, driven more by moments of obsession than consistent health.
Physical quirks
- Often runs his fingers through his hair when lost in thought.
- Tends to pace when overwhelmed by visions.
- Eyes glaze over slightly when experiencing a vision.
Apparel & Accessories
Vaelin typically wears simple robes of dark blue and gray, reflecting his role as the Blueseer. His most notable accessory is a pendant inscribed with symbols of @Oryn, the progenitor of Chronomancy, given to him during his induction as a seer.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Vaelin’s early life in Stillpoint was unremarkable until the onset of his visions at age 13. These visions, which began as fleeting glimpses, grew in intensity until his ability was recognized, and he was sent to the Deyish Academies at 17. Though his studies there were lackluster due to his rebellious nature, he excelled enough to graduate thanks to his precognitive edge. After a brief return to Calendor, where he befriended Aldren Ruus and foresaw his sister’s marriage and eventual death, Vaelin was confined to the Tower of Moments in Arronay.
Over decades, Vaelin grew increasingly detached from reality, his mind splintering under the weight of the countless futures he foresaw. The visits from Nalya became his sole source of joy, yet even these were tinged with the foreboding knowledge of her unique, unclear destiny. Now, he awaits her return, driven by a final vision that he believes will alter the course of fate itself.

Sexuality
In his youth, he pursued fleeting relationships, driven by the knowledge that he could foresee their inevitable ends. His later years have been marked by emotional isolation, with little thought given to romantic connections.
Education
Vaelin attended the Deyish Academies, where he studied Chronomancy alongside other magical disciplines. While he lacked discipline and focus, his innate talent and precognitive abilities allowed him to excel in practical applications. His education was more shaped by his life experiences and the endless flow of visions than formal instruction.
Employment
Vaelin’s role as the Blueseer is one of obligation rather than choice. He is bound to serve the kingdom by providing visions of the future to those who seek guidance, from nobles to commoners. While officially a revered figure, his confinement in the Tower of Moments feels more like a gilded cage.
Mental Trauma
Vaelin’s ability to foresee futures has taken a significant toll on his mental health. He often struggles to distinguish between the present and the futures he witnesses. The death of his sister, compounded by his inability to change what he sees, has left him with lingering guilt. Over time, his eccentricities have grown into full-blown paranoia and episodes of dissociation.
Intellectual Characteristics
Vaelin is highly intelligent, with a mind that processes probabilities and patterns at an incredible rate. However, his detachment from reality often makes him seem distracted or disorganized. He has a keen interest in unraveling mysteries, especially those involving the unknown, like Nalya’s fragmented fate.
Morality & Philosophy
Vaelin is morally complex, deeply empathetic toward those he foresees suffering but resigned to the inevitability of fate. While he desires to help others, he often withholds information, believing that knowledge of the future can cause more harm than good.
