Lily Rasmussen grew up in the small, close-knit community of Ladysmith on Vancouver Island. Of half-Coast Salish heritage, she was raised with a deep respect for her culture and an appreciation for the natural beauty of her surroundings. While she came from a broken home and had to raise herself from a young age, she began to adopt a strong sense of responsibility and practicality, traits that have shaped her into a capable and dependable person. Now sharing an apartment with her best friend Terra, Lily finds herself navigating life’s challenges with equal parts humor and determination.
Education
Lily attended Vancouver Island University, getting her Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management as a second-year student, with a particular interest in Events planning.
Employment
Lily works part-time at the local Subway as a Sandwich artist while she works her way through school.
Mental Trauma
Lily's mother suffered from severe addiction issues, and her father suffered from poor mental health. This has given her a severe distrust of authority figures in her life, but also granted her a fierce sense of independence and autonomy. Lily does what she wants to do.
Intellectual Characteristics
When Lily emancipated herself from her parents, she grew closer to her grandmother, a member of the Stz'uminus First Nation, and began to steep herself in her learning about her culture's history and oral storytelling. While she does not reside on the reserve, she does what she can to amplify their voice.
