The Red War

The year is 1914. The Third War has been raging for 3 months, but this time, humanity is prepared.   In the early 1800s, the Martians launched their first attack on earth. At the time no one understood what was happening and the enemy swept over the lands causing untold destruction. At the height of the final battle, with the remaining armies of the world assembled, the Matrains war machines fell silent. The war was inexplicably won, though the world was heavily scared in the process. 40 years later, the Martians once more marched on Earth. This time, humanity was prepared to fight back having taken the Martains warmachine and created weapons of their own. For 10 years the battle raged as casualties mounted on both sides. The tides turned in humanities favor after a series of daring raids and pitched battles saw the capture of several Martain Overlords. The knowledge that was extracted from the Overlords proved invaluable and over night the war turned. Eventually the Martains retreated into their fortresses and sealed themselves off behind impenetrable force fields. For decades the Martains were silent and while humanity tried to breach their forcefields, their attention was quickly drawn elsewhere. Both humanitarian concerns strained the resources of the survivors, and the horrors of The Red Weed became apparent.   Now, the Martain Warmachine marches forth once more. The Martians have not been content to sit idle in their absence and whole new threats walk the world. The third war has begun. The final War. The Red War.
