Dwarf
"Dwarves are driven by a great sense of pride. They hold their work above all else, from sword to fine jewelry, the material arts are of great value within Dwarven society."
-The Seer
Dwarves, also known as Dunirr in their native tongue are one of the more common Aldér. Dwarves are tough, tradition-abiding folk known for their pride and beautiful craftsmanship. They are more sturdy than Humans, having far more durable bones. Dwarves usually grow long beards, which is seen as an unbreakable tradition. Dwarves are often excellent soldiers, artisans, and businessmen. They are some of the jolliest, cheerful and greediest among the Aldér.
Physical Characteristics
Dwarves are a short race, but they are by no means the shortest of the Aldér. Standing between 4'3"– 4'9" on average. What they lack in height they make back in bulk, with most Dwarves weighing anywhere between 160–220 lbs. Dwarves, similar to humans possess a wide variety of skin, eye, and hair colors. Hazel eyes are common throughout most dwarves, with green eyes being found only in mountain dwarves and brown or blue found among city dwarves.Lifespan
Dwarves are a long-lived race, though not so much as Elves, or Anorians. Dwarves reach physical maturity a little later than humans. A dwarf is traditionally considered an adult once they reach the age of thirty. Dwarves age much like humans but over an even longer period of time. Dwarves stay vigorous well past the 200 years. A few even lived to be over 250.Abilities
Dwarves are unusually tough, in more ways than one, their bones are incredibly durable, taking twice the strength to break. Dwarven stomachs are resistant to virtually all poisons which allow Dwarves to hold their liquor better than other Aldér. Dwarves also have very strong dense bodies allowing them to bear heavier loads, other Aldér might find hindering. Dwarves are able to see far better in the dark than other races, which is a useful trait for a subterranean species. Dwarves are all-around tough, hardy folk with fairly good judgment. Many Dwarves lack the charisma you may find in other races, which can lead to them being fairly unlikeable, though this is not common among all the dwarves, some Dwarves actually possess a great deal of charm, some of which becoming skilled tradesmen and mastering the art of bartering. Dwarves can see in the dark remarkably well, about 70 feet. Dwarves have a knack for metal and stonework, allowing them to craft an abundance of gear and other valuables. Most dwarves have a love for the cavern in which they live, turning these desolate caves into vast underground Kingdoms.Personalities
