The Seekers

The Seekers are one of the most prominent and powerful societies within The Wulin, although it is also one of the younger ones. Founded by the creator of mixed martial arts, Kelsey North, The Seekers was a martial arts society created with the sole purpose of creating an organization within the Wulin for fighters interested solely in fighting and improving their fighting. Unlike the Guild, or the Council of Cycles, there is no real greater political purpose for The Seekers. If you're a strong fighter, you're allowed to join. The Seekers is essentially just a network for fighters to collaborate and compete with one another.

History

The Seekers were created by Kelsey North as an alternative to many of the societies within Wulin that seemed to be recruiting fighters for the sole purpose of gathering soldiers to accomplish grand political goals. While the Guild of Harmonious Intent seemed to be a tool for the rich to use fighters to accumulate more wealth, the Seekers were independent fighters who didn't need to service the rich and powerful. Those disinterested in battles between gods and mystic orders need not join the Council of Circles just so they could enter the Wulin. The organization was succcessful almost overnight, even after Kelsey North disappeared.

Despite the founder of the organization disappearing almost out of nowhere, the Seekers flourished. They were created as a network for fighters interested in bettering themselves, and didn't have any kind of structure or need for rankings or leaders. Over the years, the Seekers grew in membership to become one of the most populous Wulin socieities in Prisma.

Culture

In order to join the Seekers (and subsequently, the Wulin), fighters must prove themselves to be competant fighters. This can be done by simply having competed in smaller scale, regional martial arts competitions, or coming from a well known school or gym. The Seekers have a special communications network and headquarters all over Prisma. Thanks to this network, Seekers can properly find competition and like-minded fighters around the world. Members of the Seekers are simply referred to by the name of the organization. They are greatly incentivized to travel all over Prisma in search of competition against other members of the Wulin, to train and improve themselves among other members of their society, and even pick up and combine martial arts to create hybrid styles.

Although there is no official ranking among the Seekers, there are levels of fame within the organization. Fighters who just join are not well known, as membership into the organization does not ensure fame. As fighters potentially win fights and build their legend, however, they become more well known. They are welcome into more elite tournaments and matches, often opening possibilities to greater wealth or fame. Seekers are incentivized culturally to fight within public channels to faciliate some wealth accumulation, ensuring that fighting remains their only focus.

Current Goal

The Seekers' current goal within Wulin is to ensure that the Wulin exists mainly as a community for martial arts to compete and better themselves. They are somewhat reactionary to the other socieities. Their goal can simply be defined as "We don't want what the Guild or Council want." In regards to Kun'lao in particular, they are petitioning for Emperor Guanyin to ensure that Kun'lao's Wulin remain a community focused on martial arts and raw competition, first and foremost.
