Iron Palm

Nature: Balanced Origin: Kun'lao Flourish: Disarming  

Iron Palm is a martial arts style most often used by the Bamboo Guard, law enforcement officers found throughout Kun'lao. It is a well-balanced martial arts style built around disabling one's opponent without permanently hurting them. It makes usage of low kicks and palm strikes, accompanied by a wide variety of holds and submissions.

 

Iron Palm is mainly a martial art used by the Bamboo Guard to disable or disarm opponents before harm is done to any surrounding innocents. The end goal of Iron Palm is often to restrain a target so that they are no longer a danger to others or themselves. This means that Iron Palm practicioners must be well versed in disarming armed opponents. This is why Iron Palm's Flourish is Disarming.

 

Core Principles

There are a few key elements to those who practice Iron Palm. These elements are central to the martial art's key concept: Quickly catching and restraining a target before they can do much harm.

  • Restraining: Iron Palm users are well versed in grappling, learning how to restrain and hold their opponents with submissions such as the Full Nelson.
  • Well-Rounded Strikes: Iron Palm users are still exceptional strikers as well, utilizing mainly palm strikes and elbows to weak points to potentially dislocate a limb.
  • Surprising Agility: Iron Palm users are surprisingly agile. This is becaomse Bamboo Guard often have to chase down criminals through crowded villages. As such, Iron Palm users often know how to navigate terrainn quick efficiently.
 

Weapons

Iron Palm users are well-versed in using a wide variety of weapons.

  • Batons: Relatively nonlethal bludgeoning weapons are popular among the Bamboo Guard. Using Iron Palm, an officer can restrain a target before knocking them out with a police baton.
  • Bo Staff: Staffs area also quite common among Bamboo Guard, especially on patrol. Also relatively nonlethal, officers will often use staffs to strike from afar or capture opponents from behind.
  • Tonfas: Tonfas are somewhat common around Bamboo Guard, although this weapon often requires more training than a baton or staff. Regardless, tonfas are used with great proficiency among Iron Palm pracitioncers, especially in regards to their use in helping officers disarm opponents.
