Guild of Harmonious Intent

The Guild of Harmonious Intent is associated with the Wulin, but is actually an organization on par with the likes of the World Government. Like the World Government, it was created in the aftermath of the Conquest of the Core. After the great amount of chaos that war created, the Guild of Harmonious Intent was made to help Prisma economically recover. It is essentially an international alliance of Prisma's most powerful corporations. To many, its title is considered ironic. Some believe that the Guild of Harmonious Intent has created a stable world where war is far less common, and that weakening it will create economic instability. Others believe that the Guild is nothing more than an alliance of greedy megacorps looking to exploit the world to fill their pockets. The Guild of Harmonious Intents' HQ is in the Republic of Valentine, although its presence can be felt all over Prisma.

History

The Guild of Harmonious Intent was formed in the aftermath of the Conquest of the Core. This great world war had left most of the world devestated. Millions had died, and most nations were in complete shambles. After the World Government was established to maintain peace, there was an understanding that actual war could only be prevented if there were means for Prisma's nations to economically recover.

And so, Prisma's most powerful megacorps banded together to form the Guild of Harmonious Intent, essentially creating a group associated with the proliferation of global capitalism. Results were mixed, to say the least. While nations like Bellumitia and Enkindu recovered, poorer nations remained relatively poor, and the Outersphere was left almost completely untouched. This led to massive inequality on a global scale.

Despite this, the Guild of Harmonious Intent has mostly given up on changing this inequality, instead focused on building upon their already established economic channels. Calls for reform are usually ignored, as the Guild has managed to build an absurd amount of political power. While the Guild doesn't enjoy anything even remotely resembling universal acclaim, individuals within it can still use the organiztion's immense importance to do good. While the organization overall is seen as corrupt, someone can use the Guild's connections to bring about great political change. While the Guild of Harmonious Intent is quite controversial, it's here to stay, and many have opted to try and use its power to create good change from the inside.

Culture

The Guild of Harmonious Intent is a major player within the Wulin. It often sponsors a great amount fighters within the Wulin, paying them absurd amounts of money to represent them in battle. The nature of modern Wulin is actually directly tied into the Guild of Harmonious Intent. When the organization was founded, it was actually quite in danger of imploding from the inside out. This was because most of the Megacorps all had differing views of how to use the Guild, with most favoring paths that would grant them the most wealth. The Guild threatened to implode before it could ever truly begin.

It was at this point where the World Government stepped in, providing a solution: Why not just use the Wulin to decide? Whenever a dispute emerges among Prisma's various corporations, they can use matches within the Wulin to decide who is right. A fighter represents both sides of the dispute, and the winner of the bout decides who gets what they want. This cycle of contained violence is what the Guild of Harmonious Intent chose in the stead of all out war between the megacorps.

Fighters are usually recruited for the Guild by individual corporations. They are usually paid the best of all the members of Wulin, although they only spend a small amount of their matches actually competing in disputes. When not involved in dispute matches, Guild fighters are allowed to compete with anyone to their hearts' content. When this happens, the wealth and elite of the Guild of Harmonious Intent often bet on who will win matches. Although this isn't just limited to Guild fighters, those within the Guild are rewarded additional winnings for their victories, making them even more money.

Current Goal

The Guild of Harmonious Intent's current goal is focused in Kun'lao. Each victory brings them closer to gaining the favor of Emperor Guanyin. They plan to use his favor to open Kun'lao up to further trade and industry, and to create programs to incentivize more exploration of the Outer and Wildsphere of Kun'lao.
