Divine Idol Style

Nature: Aggressive Origin: Kun'lao Flourish: Reeling

Chosen martial arts style of the Yuan Monks, an aggressive, punch-heavy fighting style. Yuan Monks were not traditionally prone to combat, and this style only developed when the monkhood began to push their order into mercenary work as a means of accumulating more wealth. Thus, Divine Idol Style was created as an aggressive combat style intended for war, especially if the Yuan Monks is disarmed.

Divine Idol's Flourish is Reeling, representing the style's immense offensive capabilities. Divine Idol users will often be able to throw their opponent completely off guard, often breaking through their defensive with a slew of powerful punches.

Core Principles

There are a few key elements to those who practice Divine Idol Style. These elements are central to the martial art's key concept: Hurting and disabling an opponent as quickly as possible in combat.

  • Aggressive Boxing: Divine Idol is above all a punch-heavy style. Users will often combine long series of big punches together, just unloading as much damage as they possibly can in combat.
  • Study Fighters: Divine Idol style presumes that the pracitioner can take many hits. Because of this, it doesn't have a lot of defensive actions. It favors just throwing out more and more offense at the expense of taking multiple hits in return. This is become it assumes the user knows Enhancement Style - Golden Body. Yuan Monks are trained to have their bodies be rather study as well, in the case their Qi reserves are too low to use the technique.
  • Anything It Takes: Divine Idol Style is made for mercenary or criminal work. As such, it isn't concerned with honor. Users are expected to do whatever it takes to win, including blows to the groin and biting. Divine Idol Style users will often step on their opponent's toes to keep them in place before unleashing a combo of punches at them.

Weapons

Some weapons often used by practicioners of Divine Idol Style include:

  • Prayer Staff: A long staff, typically with some ornament of religious significance. Although used for ceremony, Yuan Monks have learned how to use these staffs as weapons if needed.
  • Gold Fists: Massive golden fists. Often times, Yuan Monks used Qi techniques to just create these weapons for themselves in combat.
  • Great Hammer: Some of the larger Yuan Monks will wield hammers in battle, typically transforming themselves into heavily-armored behemoths in the process. Their armored bodies makes it easier for them to lift great weapons.
