Anaqui

Anaqui, (Inspired by the Arabic word Anaq: hug) is an alloy of unknown composition. It is incredibly strong and impossible to brute force carve away.   Much of the Pillar is surrounded with the substance and the inhabitance have found a way to remove choice pockets in order to create homes inside the the walls of the pillar. They do this by ever so slowly melting away the alloy with acid. This acid (name) is biological in nature and produced by the reptilian races. When the acid meets the Anaqui it eats away at the structure and ultimately erodes the targeted area little by little. However, this process takes an extremely long time and it is also extremely toxic. The byproduct of the acid eating way at the Anaqui is a toxic vapor is released that needs to be contained and transported out. Anaqui mining is an extremely dangerous profession and is one of the few times mammals visit the upper layers of Ethos.   By it's nature Anaqui is a blessing and a curse. While it is trusted to hold together the world of the people it also restricts them in their ability to grow.
