The Perseus

Millions of years ago, humanity set out on a mission to find the alien source that had sent back a response to their long-abandoned alien-communications program. They constructed a colossal starship to brave the incredible voyage, and assembled a crew of people willing to lose contact with their homeworld forever. The Perseus was that starship. Built for near-absolute mass-to-energy conversion, the Perseus was built to generate a powerful hyper-elliptical magnetic field behind it that when activated can excite nearby matter (such as the occasional Hydrogen ions that may be found even in deep space) and turn it directly into photons that push the golden sails at the base of the ship. It was also built with secondary fusion-fueled thrusters that allow it to accelerate at much higher than cruising speeds, which may cause damage to people on board counteracted by high frequency cryogenic bursts.

Demographics

People grow faster, age much slower, and typically die from gradual brain deterioration. At a given age, which varies from person to person, they will be killed painlessly and recycled for nutrients. This, however, is not typically seen as death, as the systems on board can, on command, replicate the mind of the fallen person at high detail. In summary, all ethnicities have fully assimilated each other, and the only dividers are gender, sexuality, and age, all of which vary as much as could possibly be expected.

Government

The starship is controlled by an advanced artificial intelligence, personified with the name Perseus. It has artificially constructed a personality for ease of communication, and interacts with everything through shape-shifting drones. No laws are explicit, holding cells do not exist and property ownership is purely implicit, but Perseus has extremely advanced predictive systems that allow him to manipulate people years in advance to prevent them causing harm to other people. People are unable to work, but are encouraged to contribute in their own way.

Defences

No defence protocols exist, although people's obsession with old forms of warfare may provide them with relevant knowledge and Perseus may provide weapons in case of a disaster.

Industry & Trade

No professions or trade protocols exist.

Infrastructure

The Perseus features facilities for every conceivable human need, and no two rooms are exactly alike. This includes kitchens (manual and automatic), bedrooms, virtual reality rooms (with advanced sensory feedback), sparring arenas, clubs, playgrounds, gardens, boutiques, halls, game rooms, etc. People are allowed access into viewing areas where they can witness the automatic processes behind every system, but they cannot interact directly as human hands are too inaccurate. Even engineers are only allowed to comment on existing systems.

Assets

Perseus can quickly manufacture and recycle almost anything. The only constants are the computer he is stored on and the chassis of the ship.

Guilds and Factions

People exist in countless friend groups, which occasionally come into competition at various events, but these clubs cease to exist outside of context
