Personal history

At a young age, Shava was taken from her parents and raised by a hunter-gatherer Eladrin in the Feywild. While there, she learned how to survive and channel Elven magic through the power of music, only to eventually return to the Material Plane hundreds of years later. After an adjustment period where Shava attempted to integrate back into humanoid society, she eventually found steady work as the court performer to a wealthy lord from the city of Gariland..   Unfortunately, things grew dire when said lord fell under the thrall of the Death Curse, a vile magical plague that drains the vitality of all those brought back from the dead. In order to save her lord's soul, Shava joined an expedition of adventurers gathered by one Syndra Silvane and traveled to the distant southern continent of Chult, where Silvane believed the source of the Death Curse, the Soulmonger, was located. This group of adventurers would later be known as the Fate Weavers.   After many trials and tribulations, the Fate Weavers made their way into the Lost City of Omu in search of the deadly artifact, only to be betrayed by their guide Salida and ambushed by a fearsome squad of Yuan-Ti assassins. While most of the party escaped, Shava and the party's warlock Katarina were captured in the attack. The following day, the survivors of the attack broke into the yuan-ti's stronghold in the city, the "Fane of the Night Serpent" and rescued Shava, though they failed to save Katarina before her mind was broken by the Yuan-Ti's magic.   Not long after this, the party attempted to open the way into the Tomb of the Nine Gods, a path that could only be opened by solving a series of puzzles scattered throughout the city. During one such puzzle involving a grand gladiator pit, Shava was cornered by two stone gladiators and was slain before the group could intervene. In her last moments alive, she played a powerful healing spell and revived Razihel, the party's artificer, saving the party in the process.   As her soul attempted to pass on from the world, Shava discovered the horrible truth of the Soulmonger's power; she watched helplessly as her soul was pulled into the steel device, into a swirling, writhing pool of souls, the souls of all those who have died since the Death Curse first came to this land. For days, Shava fought to hold onto her essense as one by one the souls around her were consumed by a writhing Atropal, a nascent god of death growing stronger from each soul torn from the hellish device.   After 7 days of pure torture, Shava's soul was saved when the Fate Weavers made their way to the bottom of the Tomb of the Nine Gods and faced the monstrous creature. With a blast of fire and arrows, the Soulmonger imploded, releasing the souls of all contained within. In that instant, as she was leaving the Material Plane, the souls of Shava and Katarina were snatched up by an illusory figure wearing a fine black cloak that shone like moonlight. This figure saw in them a desire to help their friends, and revived them in a temporary state of undeath in order to help slay the Atropal forever.   After the fight was won and Shava finally passed on to the Ethereal Plane, the Fate Weavers obtained a scroll of Resurrection and, after gathering a grand treasure hoard of diamonds to complete the ritual, they returned to Shava's resting place and brought her back to life.   After returning home from Chult, Shava spends her year off back in the Feywild to improve her skills, learn the basics of proper sorcery from an old sylph who has fused his consciousness into a large patch of mold on a tree overlooking his favorite view, and training her natural bardic skills. Also to pass the time, she also took a habit of seducing common men, whisking them away into the Feywild for a wild, bleary one-night stand.   This rabble-rousing has led to Shava developing a legendary status as a mythical fey creature, a story that's popular with the common folk to this day.
