The creatures of salted lakes

In the Oryuh archipelago, every island is unique and has its own particularity. One of the most peculiar ones is the Junitr island, also known as “The island of the Salted Lakes”. This island has the particularity to have more water than solid grounds. The grounds are covered by no more than twenty lakes, sometimes more when the Ocean goes down. And all of these lakes are filled with salt water, sea water. It has been said that at some point the island was totally under the water surface and some phenomenon made it rise, entrapping the waters in its valleys and creating its multitude of lakes.

The creatures of Junitr

One of the lake at the center of the island is the biggest and is the home of some hybrid creatures that can only be found there. Some call them sirens, others have other names, but all agree to say their presence in the lake is strange. The species in question is third human, third fish, third bird, making it quite hard to evaluate and understand correctly. The top half is of a human male or female, the bottom half is constituted of a long tale, such as one of a fish, but instead of scales, feathers cover it. And in the back, two big wings can extend and help them fly. In the natural habitat that is the lake, they have settled and live in underwater caves. It is even said they can move under the island to escape that lake, passing and going as they want unnoticed. But that hasn’t been proved.
We scientists know very little of these creatures and their way of living. They are very protective and very few explorateurs have had the leisure to discuss with them. But the free informations we have are fascinating.
They have adapted to their environnement and have blossomed as a community. They are directed by a king, who main role seems to be to distribute lodgins. Though since the lake is a limited location in terme if space, strong procreation rules exist for population control and the king is also in charge of maintaining that order.
