The Global Myth

General wisdom amongst the common folk is that the world is a sphere that they rest their boots upon. That one could simply walk around the edge of. The stars in the sky are round. The planes that can be seen on clear dark nights when they're finally overhead are round. Why wouldn't the magnificent land they stand on also be round? The worlds are in fact round, but this is because they are disks, not globes. The common folk don't know this and most scholars don't think of this as being an option or worth thinking about. Only the most fringe of scholars and the highest flying of air ship captains have ever considered that the world they're on and the ones above are in fact circles.

Cultural Reception

Attempting to spread the idea that the Orrery isn't made up of globes will likely get you ignored or infantilized. In collages they often treat you as a threat to the general idea. Many astrologists have been fighting about this topic for the better part of their tenure and don't take kindly to outsiders to the field butting in with their "malformed ideals of flat worlds."
