Magiation (Magical Radiation)

The magics of The Orrery have an energy to them that dissipates like any other energy. This manifests in a variety of ways apon the beings and structures that make up the material of the planes. Most of this energy, this magiation, is harmless and doesn't even cause an effect to the surroundings. Your average cantrip or spell cast by a single mortal is imperceptible to the average observer in a energetic way outside the immediate effect. The base level of the theory is that there are five types of magiation that effect things in different ways. The five types are Radiatic, Fiendic, Elematic, Faeic, Chaotic.

Utility

Knowing how these energies effect the material in a space is a must of academically inclined individuals. Whether its for medical purposes when talking about the effects it has on the humanoidal population that causes mutations toward the divine or the infernal, or its for the purposes of planning a more powerful spell and it's understanding of the impact on casters and the space it's being cast in. Most casters who came from a professional academia history know how the magiation effects of the casting of their spells and how magiation energy can effect their spells. It's also understood by divine beings and fiendish beings that this radiation is responsible of the effects on their realms and the births of partial beings.

Access & Availability

If you've taken a few years of dedicated magic teachings then your knowledge of the subject is based inversely on how often you fell asleep in your average class when hearing about it. Even those who only know of arcane teachings second hand have a vague idea that there is an effect on the world that occurs when large amounts of magic is cast or released.

Complexity

A base understanding can be grasped by laymen but there's a depth and complexity to the details that takes years of study to comprehend fully.

Discovery

As this sort of thing would be, as it effects all of the planes of the known disks, it was effectively discovered a number of times. The most notable of these discoveries was made by mages on the material disk in the University of Evocative Displacements. When a circle of mages )who'd moments before been of sound body and mind whilst casting a ritual) became a variety of elemental puddles on the cobblestones, the a gnomish-goblin research duo did studies on the remaining room that the circle was in and discovered that the summon they attempted released an energy that changed the forms of the casters. The subsequent papers written on the subject has now been considered common teachings in university settings when studying prime arcana.
