Lumebor

A metal with magic absorbing properties.

Properties

Material Characteristics

It gets softer the more it's refined and pure lumebor metal is softer then gold. However, as it gathers magiation energy into it it becomes more solid and less ductile. For this reason it's often used for making trinkets for mages. It glows with the energy of the magic it's obsorbed and a faint off white color when it's pure.

Physical & Chemical Properties

When magical effects come into contact with lumebor it's energy is absorbed and negated to some effect. The amount of energy a piece of lumebor metal can hold increases with size and surface area. Over time lumebor will dispel this energy into the area around it. For this reason, lumebore is often handed off to mages to work with. This magical energy can often be an indicator of a lumebor deposit.

Compounds

Rarely, lumebor is used in allows, but this is very uncommon and is done with experimentation in mind.

Geology & Geography

Deposits of this metal are found in places where magiation has seeped into the ground and caused the metal to force it's way out of the ground. These veins are often ignored by mining projects due to the volatility of the metal. Mining done on these veins is often done under the supervision of at least one experienced mage, but often more.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Most commonly used to make dispelling trinkets and to add magical energy attraction to a particular tool or weapon. Mages will use this as a defensive material either in their workshops or on their person.

Industrial Use

Thin protective layers have been placed inside some forges and machines to keep them from catastrophically failing.

Refinement

Refinement must be done with mundane heat sources so that the material can be melted and worked with.

Hazards

When the metal is holding large amounts magical energy, it's likely that it'll have a volatile reaction to a blunt impact or breaking of the material.
