Troll Hall

Troll Hall is the first place a new person will come to if they come to the Northlands. It was a party of explorers who first found a suitable place to colonize, and who were smart enough to bring an experienced wizard who could teleport back once they landed. When he came back, he brought with him the supplies to construct a portal, allowing the rapid construction of Troll Hall over the site of a battle between the expedition crew and a group of particularly nasty trolls. Since then, the portal size has been increased to allow for near constant traffic through it in both directions. All legal trade to and from the Northlands now must go through Troll Hall and the Northland Trading Company that controls it.   A large city has sprung up around Troll Hall of people who are interested in making money either in trade, selling supplies to the traders, or to new expeditions being formed, or supplying services for the same. In addition, a large amount of mercenaries, clerks, administration staff, and minor nobility have found themselves calling the place home.   Really though, if something is needed to be found in the Northlands, if you can't find it at Troll Hall, you are unlikely to find it at all.   Places of note:   The Great Hall - The Seat of Power in the Northlands for the Empire of Ludstvo.  Duke Everam reigns from this fortress.  Gristly trophies surround the chamber, the most prominent being the skull of a Red Dragon, hanging above his throne.  Also home to Governor-General Erlichfin, the head of the Northlands Trading Company arm within the new world.  The Great Hall is built overlooking the Great Portal, just to its west.   The Great Portal - The first place any new colonist or adventurer is likely to arrive, the Great Portal is surrounded on three sides by a bustle of traders, warehouses, and Trading Company guards.  The portal itself is built of what appears to be living wood, pure silver, and arcane ruins.  From the North side, one can look directly through to see the warehouses and docks of Ludstvo City.   Market Row - The wide street pointed due north out of the Great Portal. Market Row contains anything that an aspiring colonist or adventurer might need, as well as things that a savvy trader already planning on going back through the portal might want to take though with them.  Money traders, appraisers, taverns, mercenary recruiters, and all manner of people frequent this street, which leads directly to the North Gate - the route to the "easiest" port for passenger transport; North Port.   Mud Road - The wide street to the south of the Great Portal, by contrast, is muddy, well tracked, and contains cheaper inns and merchants who have hung around to support those who have already been here, and are transporting large amounts of raw materials back to the Old World.  The South Gate leads out towards the road to "The Shipyard", which deals primarily in large shipments of grain, ore, and wood, and builds large ships for the Trading Company.   The Temple of Strebos - A temple to Strebos made of wood, peat, and thatch is located just outside the North Gate, where the meadow grasses meet old growth forest.  Clerics of this god's order provide blessings to those headed out of town into the woods.   The Cathedral of Meldan - A glorious building of stone gilded in silver is located due east of the Great Portal.  Home to both the Right Hands of Meldan and the Crooked Staff of Meldan in the Northlands.
