In the Beginning...

Era beginning/end

The Makers create the universe, which consists of one world, Ob's Rock. The original inhabitants were intelligent species of Insectoids, who created vast civilizations. This was the Insectoid Era, which lasted many thousands of years. All animal life was based on insect forms.

Ideas and theories about the beginning of the world run the gamut, with different cultures, races, groups, and religions offering creation stories or myths about Ob's Rock, and explanations of how different parts of the world came to be.   Many across the Rock know of the civilization that inhabited their world prior to the arrival of the humanoids, the Sauroids. Remnants of their society can still be found, and serve as a source of old Scale magic. Fewer know of the civilization that predates even the Sauroids, the first civilization that was known to once reign over the Rock of Ob.   The Insectoids represent, to the best opinion of the scholars and the Learned of the Athenaeum at Baezwar, the first chosen of the Maker Gods.   This was the Era of the Insectoids.
