Vestiges of Divergance

The Vestiges of Divergence were legendary tools of war wielded by mortals in The Division Wars to fight in an apocalyptic war. Whether granted by a deity or crafted through ancient-arcana long forgotten, their power is a reminder to the New World of the sheer power of those forgotten in the past.

The Vestiges are divided into three types, The Prime Armaments, The Arms of Betrayers, and Mythic Arcana.

The Prime Armaments

Created by the Prime Dieties, these magical tools were granted to great servants of a particular deity and those who served their ideals despite the horrors of The Division Wars. Most of these vestiges require the approval of the god the vestige is made by and will reject anyone it doesn't. If they are not lost in the depths or hidden in some ancient dungeon, they are either guarded by a specific prime religious groups tied to the item's origin, directly held by the god in their realm, or sealed away by an opposing religious group (usually betrayers).

The Arms of Betrayers

While many were intended for particular servants, most of the vestiges crafted by the betrayers primarily functioned as a traps for mortals in need of power in an age of apocalypse. Once a someone attuned to an Arm, they were essentially trapped one way or another into doing the bidding of whatever god that forged it until they were slain. While incredibly powerful, they are equally dangerous for the user; often demanding immoral actions to satiate the god tied to or simply taking over the individual's mind completely. If not hidden in the sea, most of them are sealed away by religious groups, in possession of followers of Betrayers, or scattered across the New World into the hands of unsuspecting mortals with the aid of monsters or shadowfallen to deliver them.

The Mythic Arcana

Not made by any divine being, the mythic arcana were advanced tools made from the forgotten magics of the mortal magocracies in the Divine War as a means to compete with the mortal servants equipped by the gods. They are not tied to any greater being, usually leading to no requirements or major drawbacks to use these tools. Though few care, the methods of these tools being made were often much more morally gray or simply immoral, with the biggest instance being magic items make from primordials. The magic within them is so intricate that there is no feasible way to study and replicate these items with modern magic today. With its nature these are the most used and dispersed, with a few in possession by the mage association, many held by The Hands of The Witch, and a good amount dispersed across the New World in use; if they arn't in the bottom of the ocean, of course.
