Avalynx

Living in the Highland peaks and upon glacial sheets, Avalynx excels at stalking its prey in heavy snowstorms. It can move through deep snow and ice effortlessly without making a sound. This primarily nocturnal Owai uses it's well developed low-light vision to hunt even at night.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Avalynx is a medium sized feline covered with thick steely hair, interspersed with icy growths across its flank. Saliva consistently drips down its mouth freezing into sharp pronounced teeth. When broken, these teeth as well as their claw counterparts can be regrown in a matter of hours. It's broad paws allow it to traverse snow while barely leaving a trace or print.

Genetics and Reproduction

It will then find another avalynx of the opposite sex, breeding a litter of 1-4 Cubzeros which it will then teach to hunt and protect until it has reached maturity. Mating occurs within the span of a moon cycle in the spring; the female will mark it's territory with icy patterns to be found by a male. Gestation lasts 2 months.

Growth Rate & Stages

In the early stages of life, Avalynx will live as Cubzero, until it undergoes metamorphosis into it's final form. Avalynx are then at a stage of maturity

Ecology and Habitats

Avalynx lives in the colder regions of the Newman's Valley highlands. These regions include the high peaks and the glacial sheets that dot the highlands.
Avalynx take a primary role as intermediate predator of these colder regions of the highlands, hunting down local swinubs/piloswines, Skiddos/Gogoats, and other smaller mammals that it may encounter.

Dietary Needs and Habits

strictly carnivores, an Avalynx requires a pound of food to keep up regular energy requirements

Biological Cycle

In the early stages of life, Avalynx will live as Cubzero, until it undergoes metamorphosis into it's final form.
In maturity, and Avalynx will reproduce offspring yearly if food is available for it. Old age impacts are unknown
